Day 1 - Naaluang Trek/ Multi-ethnic Hike
Your journey begins with a short ride along the roads, where you will arrive at the starting point of your exhilarating trekking adventure. Revel in the stunning sights of rice paddies that thrive within the fertile soils as you traverse along the beaten trail. Be surrounded by the tall verdant trees as you stroll through the preserved forests and you will catch the sight of the rising mountains that sits at a distance from the path you walk upon. Discover the colourful rice fields that change its colour, depending on the season of the environment. Catch the sights of the garden that is filled with a wide variety of flowers that exudes beauty to the atmosphere before reaching upon a quaint little village that is within the striking nature. Delight yourself in the scrumptious lunch that is served in a Lao-style and stimulate your taste buds to the flavourful Lao food.
Explore the quaint village that lives the sustenance way of life and still holds traditional values. Discover the simple houses that are constructed in a unique style for the inhabitants to reside in as you walk on the narrow paths. Catch the sights of the friendly inhabitants engaging in their daily activities within their farmlands, as a way to sustain themselves and their family. Learn about the culture and customs of the villagers from your guide and by also interacting with the villagers. Gain some insight on the weaving-style of the lowland Laos villagers by visiting the expert weavers in the village and learn about the art of weaving. Venture to the local school that is constructed completely out of eco-friendly materials, which includes the clay, adobe and mud. The Clay School has been established since 2011 and now is the main place of learning for the children that reside in the village. As the Sun begins to descend, you will head to the local homestay and consume some delicious dinner before hitting the hay.
Day 2 - Jungle Trek / Cruise
Awake from your refreshing slumber to some delicious breakfast to give you some energy for carrying on the with your journey. Leave behind the remote village upon the roads again and bask in the stunning jungle that is tightly-packed between one another. Stroll past a stunning bamboo forest that will be carefully aligned next to the beaten trail and then you will head past the mountain path that extends to the Nam Ou river. Make your way to the Nam Ou river that is one of the most important rivers in Laos. The Nam Ou river acts as a mode of transport of goods and it is one of the tributaries to the Mekong river, which is the 12th longest river in the world. The total time takes to complete the trek is at least 4 hours, through medium hiking path.
Upon arrival to the Nam Ou river, you will then aboard a private cruise to travel upriver along the Nam Ou river to the beautiful village of Ban Na Ngan. The Ban Na Ngan is the home of the Thai Lue people, who are renowned for producing pristine traditional fabrics. The traditional fabrics illustrate the unique olden-style patterns that are stunning to look at as they are made with the knowledge that has been passed down for generations. The fabrics are made with cotton, that is grown in fields within the vicinity of the village and the entire process of making the fabrics are made with natural products. Though the patterns of the fabrics may have changed with time it still carries some of the more original designs, which makes it popular amongst tourists that visit the quaint village. Explore the stunning village that is filled with an abundance of natural beauty that will make the experience an unforgettable one. Then, you will retire at one of the homestays for a good night’s rest.
Day 3 - Riverside Explorer / Caves / Waterfalls
Your journey begins at the early hours of the morning, where you will head to the river and travel downriver aboard a traditional longtail boat. Along the journey, you will make a stop at the stunning Ban Muang Ngoi that is safely nestled along the banks of the Nam Ou river and the towering limestone karsts. Discover the agrarian lifestyle of the local people by interacting and observing them as they engage in the daily tasks. Take the beaten paths that will lead you to a small cave, that is located a stone’s throw away from the village called the Tham Pha Noi. Discover the beauty of the cave as you explore the depths of the cave to see the stalactites and stalagmites that jut out along the walls of the cave.
After exploring the beautiful Ban Muang Ngoi, you will traverse the Nam Ou river again and board a boat to the Ban Sop Khong. Discover the culture and customs of the inhabitants residing in the village by learning from your friendly guide. Take a short hike upon the roads in the scenic atmosphere, which will take you to the stunning waterfall that flows endlessly to the base that contains the pool. Indulge in some delicious Laos lunch that will fill your tummy after an exhausting hike through the trails. Make your way back to the Nam Ou river that will be your final boat ride to the Nong Khiaw, as you leave behind the beautiful village of Sop Khong.
