Tour Description:

Leave the hectic streets of Luang Prabang behind and ride pass the spectacular Mekong river that is the 12th longest river in the world. Then, you will approach the Nam Ou river, which is a significant river in Laos as the river is involved in the transportation of goods. Your first stop would be to the Lao village of the Ban Houay Leuang that is located a stone’s throw away from the Nam Ou river. Upon arrival to the Ban Houay Leuang, you will commence your exciting journey by hopping on a kayaking boat to explore the Nam Ou river. Traverse past stunning sights of the rich jungle that sits along the Nam Ou river and also the rising mountains that are covered with verdant trees that live healthily on it. Catch the sight of the Pak Ou caves that is beautifully decorated with an abundance of Buddha statues that overlooks the river. 

Traverse past the villages that sit along the sides of the Nam Ou river, which includes the Khmu, Hmong and Lao Loum riverside villages. Behold the sights of the villagers carrying out their daily tasks and the sounds of laughter as the children in the villages play amongst one another. You will make a stop along the banks of the Nam Ou river where you will delight yourself with the delicious lunch that will surely stimulate your taste buds with the flavours of Lao. The kayaking expedition ends at the Ban Pha Teung, which is a village that is known for producing some delectable rice whiskey that is made with the knowledge that has been past down from generations ago.

However, the water conditions of the Nam Ou river differs depending on the water season. During high season, there are large bodies of water flowing through the river with countless of rapids along the way. The kayaking expedition is only suitable for individuals with some experience in kayaking and strong swimmers. During the dry season, there is less water travelling along the river and so the distance of the kayaking trip will be increased to 21 kilometres and the time taken to complete it will take at least 4 hours. Along the way, you will experience some obstacles in the form of exposed rocks that you will need to carefully manoeuvre away from.

15 - 30 days prior to the tour date, 30% of total package payment incurred.

7 - 14 days prior to the tour date, 50% of total package payment incurred.

1 - 6 days prior to the tour date, 100% of total package payment incurred.

No show, and cancellations on the tour date: No refund allowed.

Additional Information:

• Minimum two(2) pax for the tour to be confirmed

• The total kayaking distance is 15 kilometres and it requires at least 2 hours to complete
• Tour is only available during high water season(August to January) and will not available during the dry season (February to August).
• Transfer duration above are estimated and subject to traffic and weather condition, and not inclusive of any sightseeing tours
• Please adhere to strict pick-up time punctuality. Tour operators may forfeit tours for travellers if no-show during the stipulated time
• Registered name of the traveller must be corresponding with photograph documentation (Example: Passport). Tour operators reserve the right to reject if registered traveller fails to provide photographed documentation of their own
