Immerse yourself into the ancient city of Luang Prabang by exploring every nook and cranny of the city on a bicycle and kayak!
Your adventure begins with a short briefing from the friendly guide on the safety measures of riding a mountain bike and you will also be given the appropriately sized bicycle on one of the mountain bicycles. Head to the Wat Pa Phon Phao through the backroads of Luang Prabang, which means “Peacefulness Temple” that radiates marvel as it is located atop a hill in a southeast of Luang Prabang that is right across the Nam Khan river. The Wat Pa Phon Phao is a forest temple retreat for believers to learn about the Buddhist religion. The temple is filled with a wide array of beautiful murals that decorate the walls and some of these murals have a rather revolting nature. Traverse to the grave of Henri Mouhot, who was a French explorer who brought attention to the glorious Angkor Wat Complex in Cambodia.
After the 15 kilometers ride along the Nam Khan river that is within a marvellous view of the mountain silhouettes, rivers, and small villages where you will catch the sight of the villagers living their daily lives. After an exhausting journey, you will head to the camp where you will indulge in some delectable lunch that is infused with wonderful flavours to replenish your energy. You will be at a perfect spot to get the view of the mountain stretch right before your eyes and also the natural Tad Sae Waterfall.
After a hearty lunch, you will make your way to the Tad Sae Waterfall aboard a short boat ride across the river. Upon arrival, you will hear the thunderous roar of the water constantly rushing through the rock formations and feel the watery mists upon your skin. Take the opportunity to immerse your body in the cool water in the pool under the shade provided by the jungle canopy. After the refreshing swim, your journey continues to the kayaking centre where you will first be briefed about the safety measures during kayaking and the basics of kayaking.
Fuel your blood with adrenaline as you explore the Nam Khan river on a kayak and begin your adventure. During high season, the Nam Khan river will be filled with ample of water that will be rushing through the verdant jungle countryside. The total distance of the river will be 20 kilometers that are graded as easy to medium level of difficulty and it will take about 3 hours to reach the finishing line. After the kayaking expedition, you will head back to the camp in a truck.
During low water season, explore the waters that move in a calming motion and the low volume of water in the river reveals white sand beaches that are along the banks of the Nam Khan river. After an exciting kayaking trip, take to the roads where you will en route to the Wat Pa Phon Phao where you will delve into the beautiful temple that is spectacularly designed and the temple is filled with beautiful murals, some of which may be of the unpleasant nature. Go through some rocky paths along the way with some hills that will truly excite you before crossing a river on a boat. The journey continues to the resting place of Henri Mouhot, who was a French explorer that brought attention about the state of Angkor Wat to the Western Civilization, which can be reached from a short walk from the river.
