Visit the enchanting village of the quaint Royal Palace Museum that is located at the Luang Prabang’s main boulevards, where you will have the opportunity to learn about the history of Lao and the local culture. The Royal Palace Museum previously was the abode for the royal family before the communists took power in 1975. The palace was then converted to the museum in 1995 after some meticulous renovation that took place. Admire the incredible architecture that will surely take you back in time as some of the structures are remnants of the past during the colonial era and Lang Xane kingdom and some modern architecture and designs were also incorporated into the museum. Admire the glorious Wat Xieng Thong with its majestic point roofs and intricate architectural designs of the Luang Prabang-style with stunning mosaics, rare Buddha deities statues and the temple features a funeral carriage that is 12 meters high.
Go abroad a private boat that will cruise upstream along the Mekong river, where you will revel in the beautiful landscapes that are in every corner. The countryside exudes serenity and tranquility that is far different from the bustling cities. Your first stop would be to the village of Ban Muang Keo that is involved in distilling whiskey and producing Saa papers from eco-friendly materials. Traverse along a small trail to the mysterious cave of Pak Ou that overlooks the Mekong river, that is filled to the brim with statues of Buddha in varying shapes and sizes. After an exhausting time travelling, you will make a stop to the local restaurant that has the perfect view of Mekong river where you will have a chance to taste the delectable local Lao cuisine.
Upon arrival to Luang Prabang, you will then make a stop to the Ban Xang Khong and Ban Nongxai that is specialized in producing and selling silk products and Saa paper, which is paper that is constructed from the bark of Saa tree. Learn about the customs and cultures of the villages at the Ban Xang Khong and Ban Nongxai by interacting with the locals. Once mid-afternoon approaches, you will have a chance to trek up the beautiful trails of the Mount Phousi where you will have a chance to gaze at a scenic landscape of the Luang Prabang and Mekong river from the peak of the hill.
