Travel back in time and Engross yourself in one of Vietnam’s Unique Religious Architectural site: My Son Sanctuary and have a visit at Hoi An’s silk Village.
Let’s travel back in time as you will be a unique culture in coastal Vietnam during the 4th to 13th centuries, which spiritual origins are the Hinduism of India: My Son Sanctuary. The first location to visit is Tra Kieu, once Champa Kingdom capital. During the Champa reign, however, Tra Kieu was named Simhapura, roughly translated as “Lion Capital”. War has severely destroyed the site as there are only ruins left today. Nevertheless, archaeologists confirm that Simhapura was once a massive architectural site. It owned unique temples, castles, and numerous religious statues. Although only ruins remain, Tra Kieu was clear evidence of how the prosperous Champa Kingdom was.
Comprising a series of impressive tower-temples, the heartland of Champa is surrounded by a ring of mountains. Situated in the elevated geographical basin, My Son Sanctuary provides a watershed for Thu Bon river. Its architectural ensemble had developed for centuries: a diversity of architectural designs are crafted into the tower temples and each holds a significant religious meaning. Each of the remaining ruins of My Son adds a stroke into the picture of a unique culture and important phase of South - East Asia history.
On the way back to Hoi An, stop at the silk village. Engross yourself in the scenery of silkworm breeding, the spinning, threading, and weaving. The villagers preserve the traditional methods of weaving bypassed down by the ancient Viet and Champa. Mulberry trees of 400 years of age are grown in the village’s garden as well as Champa’s and other regions’ mulberry trees. You can try feeding the silkworms yourself. In addition, the locals will help you distinguish between “real” and “fake” silk, which may help you in the future. Have lunch with local families before you head back. This is also the last activity of the tour.
