Stroll around the region of Da Nang and behold the beautiful Linh Ung Pagoda and My Son Sanctuary up close and personal.
The pagoda of Linh Ung consists of three different pagodas located at three separate locations. The origin of the pagoda network itself is also quite interesting. It all started back at the 19th century during the reign of King Minh Mang in the Nguyen Dynasty. One day, a Buddha statue drifted from a nearby stream and onto the local settlement by the bank. The local folks saw this as an auspicious and heavenly sign to which they established a local shrine to worship the statue and the prosperity it brought. Today, this shrine has evolved into Linh Ung Pagoda, and it is still believed to bring happiness and prosperity to the region. It is also a favourite tourist destination.
You will begin your day trip with a visit to the capital and religious center of the former Champa Kingdom, My Son, a UNESCO World Heritage Site which was first built in the 7th century during the reign of the Hindu Champa Kingdom. Beautifully situated in a lush green valley, dozens of red brick towers and sanctuaries can be found dating all the way to the original spread of Hinduism in Southeast Asia. After concluding the first half of the tour and with your picture taking adventure done, you will have your lunch at a local restaurant.
In the afternoon, you will make your way to Marble Mountains (Vietnamese: Ngu Hanh Son; literally "five elements mountains"). There, you will have the opportunity to explore the stunning natural caves of the mountain and enjoy the beautiful view from the top of the mountain. Stone steps carved into the mountain lead to a Buddhist Pagoda and the surrounding caves views are definitely an experience you do not want to miss out on. Once you arrive, you will waste no time to climb up the stone stairs and visit the caves and pagodas where you will start your adventure around the mountain.
You will also visit Am Phu Cave where you will find a replica of heaven and hell and a network of eerie underground tunnels hidden just beneath the rock formations. Afterwards, you journey continue to a local stone sculpting village before you visit another Linh Ung Pagoda at Son Tra Peninsula and return to your hotel.
