A short yet exciting trip to Muong Hoa Valley to discover the hidden beauty of Lao Chai village and Ta Van village
After driving through the tight bend roads to Muong Hoa valley, your short journey to Sapa’s villages begins. Stroll down the stunning Muong Hoa: the magnificent undisturbed dense forests, the clear abundant Muong Hoa stream that gently flows through the rice terraces, and the ancient mysterious stones sculptures. Lying between the thick bushes and rice fields, the strange stones were carved with unknown patterns which are said to be approximately 2000 to 3000 years of age. Many scientists from different countries have come to the site to study the mysterious stones, however, no one has yet to discover its origins. Nevertheless, it is considered a valuable historical heritage of Muong Hoa. As you walk down the valley, you will stumble upon the largest rice terrace of Sapa. You will then hear interesting stories about the procedure of growing and taking care of the rice plants, and all the stages it takes to eventually be served as cooked rice on the table.
Continue on trekking to Lao Chai village and Ta Van village that belongs to the Black Hmong and Giay. This is when you feel like you’ve arrived to a place straight out from a fairy tale. Standing from afar, the rice terrace stretches out to the very doorstep of the local’s houses, with the sound of the clear stream swiftly flowing and the sounds of birds chirping in the background. If you visit the villages during Autumn, or between April and September, the whole place is even more breathtakingly beautiful. Everything is lit up by the warm golden rice plants waiting to be harvested. This period of time is when Lao Chai and Ta Van are the busiest, and if you come during this period of time, you will have the chance to do some harvesting yourself. Then, visit the local village school to have more insight into their daily lives. The minivan will be waiting for you after your exciting mountainous experience.
