Tour Description:

Day 1 – Arrival at Mulu, Lang’s / Deer Caves / Bat Exodus

Jump on a domestic flight that will take you to Mulu airport where our friendly guide will be waiting to pick you up from the airport to transport you to Mulu National Park. You will then get to check in to your Longhouse accommodation before going for other activities. Settle down into your new environment and freshen up before heading to your next activity. An experienced guide will be trekking with you through the plankwalk that will take you to the Deer Cave. On the way there, you will get to experience and see an array of exotic animals that are unique to the Sarawak forest. Upon reaching the entrance of the Deer Cave, you will realise that it has a huge cave passage that allows some sunlight to penetrate the cave that lights up the interior of the cave. An interesting fun-fact about the Deer Cave is that it was once used to shelter the local Penan and Berawan people from the elements.

Nearing sundown, you will be ushered to the outside of the cave to observe a bat exodus event that will blow you away. There will be bats flying out of the caves and the sky will be filled with these nocturnal animals will be rushing out to go about their day. Next, you will head to Lang’s Cave which is a short walk away from the Deer Cave. It is the smallest cave among the 4 caves, but it has one of the most beautiful rock formations that are worth seeing. Observe these crystal rocks come to life when the spotlight is shone on them and there is a dazzling effect that will keep your hypnotised. After a long day, head back to the Longhouse and have dinner that is prepared by the in-house chef before retiring for the evening.

Day 2 – Batu Bungan Penan Settlement / Wind & Clearwater Caves 

Arise to an amazing morning and wake up to the constant sound of nature in the background. Go down for a sumptuous breakfast that is prepared by the in-house chef and get ready for a day filled with exciting adventure. Meet up with your tour guide for the day and he will give you a briefing on the day’s event. Get on the long-tailed boat that will take you to Batu Bungan (Once known to be a tribal settlement). Feel the cool morning breeze rushed against your face and through your hair as the boat cruise down the river. You will be given an exclusive local tour of the Penan people around their compound and the heritage of these people. There will be a chance to support the local community by purchasing some of the locally made items that are sold on the market.

Next, you may continue with the boat ride down the Melinau River to the Wind and Clearwater Caves. Once at the Wind Cave, you will notice that there is a constant breeze of fresh air that is passing through the cave. The outside air flows into the cave system making it especially windy. Next, you will be led to the last cave, the Clearwater Cave, where you will get to experience the constant gashing sound of water in the underground channels as you explore the cave. Once you have reached the end of the cave, you will see a picnic area just outside the cave where there is a tiny pool that is filled with water that passes through the complex cave system. Catch your breath as you step out of the cave and you may choose to take a dip into the cooling waters before heading back. Enjoy the evening with a sumptuous dinner that is included in the package and fall asleep with the sound of cicadas in the background.

Day 3 – Departure from Mulu

On this final day, wake up to a hearty breakfast being prepared for you before packing up your belongings and head to Mulu airport for a domestic flight back home.

• Recommended to prepare own insect repellent, sunscreen, hiking equipment (glove, torchlight), raincoat and medication
• Wear good trekking shoes and comfortable cotton T-shirt with long or short pants
• Tipping is compulsory (RM 40/pax)
• Hotel rooms are subject to availability. If selected hotel is unavailable, other similar accommodations will be provided with different pricing
• Pick up times will vary depending on the arrival of your flight
• Our agent will contact you for confirmation on pick up time one (1) week before the tour

• Please adhere to strict pick-up time punctuality. Tour operators may forfeit tours for travellers if no-show during stipulated time
• Registered name of the traveller must be corresponding with photograph documentation (Example: Passport). Tour operators reserve the right to reject if registered traveller fails to provide photographed documentation of their own
• Note: Starting from 1st September 2017, a tourism tax of RM10 per room per night will be imposed on non-Malaysian tourists for all types of hotels and accommodations. This is payable to the hotel upon check-out
