Tour Description:

Day 1 – Arrival at Mulu, Lang’s / Deer Caves / Bat Exodus

Choose the location of your choice to take a domestic flight directly to Mulu airport. Upon your arrival, you will have to look for our friendly guide who will be awaiting your arrival. He will pick you up and transport you to the Mulu National Park where you will get to check into the Marriot Resort. Settle into your new environment and freshen up before heading off to your next activity. Meet up with your experienced guide who will take you along plankwalk route to the Deer Cave. Keep your eyes peeled for the various animals that roam around the dense forest of Mulu. Take amazing pictures of these creatures going about their daily routines. Upon arriving at the deer cave, you will realise that there it has a large opening at the start of the cave. Sunlight is also able to reach far into the cave due to its unique structure. The cave is also once used as a place for refuge that the Penan and Berawan people used to hide from the harsh tropical environment.

During the late afternoon, you will be led to a location outside of the cave to observe the Bat exodus. Be amazed by a large number of nocturnal bats rushing out into the wilderness. (This activity is highly dependent on the weather for the day) Next, move on to the next cave, the Lang’s Cave which is a short distance walk on the plankwalk. The Lang’s Cave is the smallest among the 4 show caves, but it is unique due to its internal rock formation. It has the most beautiful stalactites that look like crystals when light is shone on them. Making them a wonder to look at. Head back to the Marriot Resort where a special dinner will be prepared for you before going to bed and having a good rest for the evening.

Day 2 – Batu Bungan Penan Settlement / Wind & Clearwater Caves 

Rise and shine to the sun penetrating through the blinds, freshen up and head down the resort for a hearty breakfast that is specially prepared for you and is ready for a fun-packed day full of activities. Hop on the long-tailed boat that will take you to Batu Bungan. (Also known as the Penan people’s settlement) Upon reaching the place, you will get to meet a local Penan guide who will bring you around the village and explain their heritage to you. He will spend time explaining to you about the origins and how the people have adapted with changes. At the end of the tour, you will have the chance to purchase some hand-crafted saviours to support the local community. Get back on the long-tailed boat and head for the next cave on the list. You will arrive at the Wind Cave. Stepping into the cave, you will feel that there is a constant wave of fresh air entering the cave. This is due to the unique structure of the Wind Cave that allows air to pass in and out efficiently.

Next, a short walk away will be the Clearwater Cave. Trekking through the cave, you will get to hear the constant gashing sound of water flowing in the underground system. As you step out of the cave, you will see a site that is perfect for a picnic session. There is a small pool that is filled with fresh underground water that is constantly flowing. Jump into the tempting water to cool yourself after a strenuous caving experience. After that, head back to the resort and replenish yourself with a sumptuous dinner that is well prepared by the resort’s in-house chef. Then fall asleep with the sound of cicadas and other animals in the background.

Day 3 – Departure from Mulu

Wake in the morning and go for a hearty breakfast that will be prepared for you. Pack your luggage and head to Mulu airport for the domestic flight back home.

• Recommended to prepare own insect repellent, sunscreen, hiking equipment (glove, torchlight), raincoat and medication
• Wear good trekking shoes and comfortable cotton T-shirt with long or short pants
• Tipping is compulsory (RM 40/pax)
• Hotel rooms are subject to availability. If selected hotel is unavailable, other similar accommodations will be provided with different pricing
• Pick up times will vary depending on the arrival of your flight
• Our agent will contact you for confirmation on pick up time one (1) week before the tour
• You may also contact them directly for pick up confirmation once your flights are confirmed
• Please adhere to strict pick-up time punctuality. Tour operators may forfeit tours for travellers if no-show during stipulated time
• Registered name of the traveller must be corresponding with photograph documentation (Example: Passport). Tour operators reserve the right to reject if registered traveller fails to provide photographed documentation of their own
• Note: Starting from 1st September 2017, a tourism tax of RM10 per room per night will be imposed on non-Malaysian tourists for all types of hotels and accommodations. This is payable to the hotel upon check-out
