Conquer the trek up to one of the highest mountains in Southeast Asia and savour the breath-taking view at the summit!
Day 1 – Kota Kinabalu / Nabalu Market / Poring Hotsprings Resort
Start your trekking adventure with a scenic 2 Hour road trip to Kinabalu Park! Bask in the beauty of Kota Kinabalu’s natural environment and quaint local villages as you drive past them. You’ll truly feel like you’re no longer in the city as you drive pass wide expanses of paddy fields and wave at locals coming from the villages nearby. Before you arrive at Kinabalu Park, you’ll make a quick pit stop at Nabalu Market.
The market is located in the small town of Nabalu and is a popular tourist site due to its close location to the park, being only 12 km away. You’ll get to browse through the souvenir stalls and shops that are set up all along the small town, get a taste of the local delicacies too! The town is also well-known for having an amazing view of the Kinabalu Mountain peak from their 15-meter watchtower. You’ll then proceed to Poring Hot Springs that’s about a 45-minute drive from the park.
Upon arrival at the hot springs, you’ll have the rest of the day to do as you please! You can choose to relieve your aching muscles from the long drive up in the springs hot sulphuric minerals with its healing properties that are popular amongst many locals. Besides having a relaxing dip into the warm spring waters, you can also choose to take a stroll along the canopy walk and gaze at the lush greenery of the Menggaris tree. The walkway is about 157.8 meters long and if you’re lucky you might be able to catch a glimpse of the largest flower in the world, the Rafflesia. After you have spent your time exploring and enjoying the many facilities of the springs you’ll have a delicious dinner before retiring for the night.
Day 2 – Park HQ / Timp. Gate / Ascend Mount Kinabalu / Laban Rata
Wake up bright and early for a filling breakfast to get your energy before departing at 7 am sharp to the Park’s Headquarters to begin your trek to the mountain’s summit. At the Park HQ, you’ll need to register for the climb, apply for your ID tags and you’ll also be meeting the experienced mountain guide who will lead you on your journey to the summit. It’s especially important to remember to wear your ID tags at all times. Then you’ll go to Timpohon Gate where your trek will begin!
The climb up Kinabalu’s peak is not for the faint-hearted as the trek will take about 4 to 5 Hours. Despite the difficult hike you’ll get to enjoy amazing views thanks to the forests natural sights and sounds. You’ll feel a little chill as you hike as the mountain is 3272 metres above sea level making for a very cooling trip. Gaze at the over 5000 different vascular plant species and the park’s diverse fauna. You might even get to see some rare flowers in the park’s lush forest such as one of the rarest orchids in the world, the Rothschild slipper orchid. Then you’ll make your way to your accommodation for the night and enjoy a buffet dinner before going to bed.
Day 3 – Low's Peak / Descend Mount Kinabalu / Kota Kinabalu
Start your day with an early supper before continuing your trek to the Kinabalu Mountain’s peak. Get ready to feel the burn in your thighs and your heart beating out of your chest as you really test your physical fitness climbing up to Low’s peak standing at 4095 meters above sea level. Then you’ve reached what you’ve been waiting these past 3 days for! You’re officially at the summit and here you’ll be amazed at the breath-taking view of the sunrise.
After dozens of photos of the beautiful mountain view, you’ll go back to Laban Rata for a well-deserved breakfast. After gorging yourself on the delicious breakfast you’ll make your way to Timpohon Gate where you’ll be transported back to the Park HQ. At the HQ you’ll be awarded a Certificate of Achievement because you just completed the tiring climb to the summit and you should be praised for! Then you’ll get a buffet lunch fit for the gods at the Balsam Restaurant before you’re brought back to Kota Kinabalu city and thus your tour ends.
Cancellations after confirmation of tour will incur a 50% charge of the total package price. This fund is not refundable, in whole or in part, cannot be brought forward and/or used for future bookings.
