Day 1 – Kota Kinabalu / Nabalu Market / Poring Hotsprings Resort
Take a road trip to Kinabalu Park to begin your adventure! Escape the busy streets of the city as you drive pass Kinabalu’s lush landscape and local villages. You’ll get amazing views of wide expanses of paddy fields and local living their daily lives from the villages nearby. Make a quick stop at the famous Nabalu Market before arriving at Kinabalu Park.
Located in the small town of Nabalu, the market is popular amongst tourists due to its close location to the park. Souvenir stalls and small shops are littered all over the small town for you to browse through and shop. There are also food and snack stalls in the market, giving you the chance to try some of the delicious local delicacies! The town is also one of the ideal places for you to get an amazing view of the Kinabalu Mountain peak from their 15-meter watchtower! So take a look at the mountain that you’re going to conquer before proceeding to Poring Hot Springs, approximately 45-minute drive from the park.
Upon arrival at the hot springs, you’ll have the rest of the day to do as you please! Relieve your aching muscles from the long drive up in the springs hot sulphuric minerals with its healing properties that are popular amongst many locals. You can also choose to take a stroll along the canopy walk and gaze at the lush greenery of the Menggaris tree. The walkway is about 157.8 meters long and if you’re lucky you might be able to catch a glimpse of the largest flower in the world, the Rafflesia. Then enjoy a delicious dinner before retiring for the night at your dormitory style accommodation.
Day 2 – Park HQ / Timp. Gate / Ascend Mount Kinabalu / Laban Rata
Wake up just before the sun rises for a filling breakfast to get your energy before departing at 7 am sharp to the Park’s Headquarters to begin your trek to the mountain’s summit. Once you reach the Park Headquarters you’ll need to register for the climb and apply for your ID tags. It’s really important to remember to wear your ID tags at all times. Once you’ve met your experienced mountain guide, who’s going to lead you on your journey to the summit, then you’re ready to go to Timpohon Gate where you trek truly begins!
Put your physical fitness to the test as you make the 4 to 5-hour trek up to Kinabalu’s peak. Despite the challenging climb, it’s well worth the breath-taking views of the verdant forests and the soothing sounds of the jungle. The mountain is 3272 metres above sea level giving it the cold weather that’s sure to keep you cool while you trek. Kinabalu Park is rich with over 5000 different vascular plant species and diverse fauna, so keep your eyes peeled for some of the park’s rare flowers such as the Rothschild slipper orchid which is one of the rarest orchids in the world. After the strenuous climb makes your way to your accommodation for the night and enjoys a buffet dinner before taking a well-deserved sleep.
Day 3 – Low's Peak / Descend Mount Kinabalu / Kota Kinabalu
Get up bright and early for an even earlier supper before continuing your trek to Kinabalu’s peak. Push yourself as you make the challenging trek to Low’s peak, standing at 4095 meters above sea level. Once you’ve conquered the trek, feel accomplished as you’ve finally reached the destination you’ve been waiting to reach for the past 2 days! Bask in the glory of the beautiful sunrise as you enjoy the sense of fulfilment for completing the Kinabalu trek.
Take all the snapshots of the Instagram-worthy mountain view before making your way back to Laban Rata for a warm breakfast. Then go to Timpohon Gate where you’ll be brought back to the Park HQ where you’ll be awarded a Certificate of Achievement as proof of your amazing feat of completing the challenging summit climb. Get treated to a magnificent lunch at the Balsam Restaurant before your tour comes to an end and you’re brought back to Kota Kinabalu.
Cancellations after confirmation of tour will incur a 50% charge of the total package price. This fund is not refundable, in whole or in part, cannot be brought forward and/or used for future bookings.
