Explore the Marble Mountain on foot and get ready to be fascinated by its cultural sites as well as historical charms!
While Marble Mountain is famous for its rock climbing activities such as abseiling, you can still enjoy the mountain range and its charms by exploring on foot. Our tour will bring you around the mountain to discover the fascinating caves and temples here. Located just around 25 kilometre away from Hoi An, we will pick you up from your hotel and head towards the majestic Marble Mountain. After driving for around 45 minutes, we will arrive at the mountain range which was named after the five elements of metal, wood, fire, water and earth by the King Gia Long in the 19th century. With marble cliffs towering over the ocean, Marble Mountain has an amazing scenery and various cultural sites that are waiting for our arrival.
Once we are here, we will start climbing up the staircase leading to the Linh Ung Pagoda where we will find a 67-metre-high Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva statue facing the stunning East Sea. Besides the pagoda complex, there are also other cave temples and vistas around this area. As we take in the impressive scenery of the ocean from distance, we will also explore the caves used as hideouts by the guerrilla armies during the Vietnam War. While roaming around the mountain, we will learn about its origin through the rumoured mythology of how it was previously an eggshell left by the dragon king after the birth of a beautiful princess. After hiking for several hours, we will take a break and enjoy our snack.
Before leaving for Hoi An, we will stop by the Cham Museum to learn more about the ancient history of Vietnam. In around 15 minutes, we will reach the museum which houses various ancient artefacts found at the My Son temple complex such as the statues of female dancers and genies worshipped by the Cham people. You can spend as much time as you want here to uncover the Cham’s history. After that, we will transfer you back to your hotel and concludes our exploration tour of the Marble Mountain.
