Head up Ngu Hanh Son and enjoy the panoramic view of the surrounding area from atop the mountain peak and drop by Linh Ung Pagoda to learn more about the history behind the construction of the pagoda itself.
The Marble Mountain (Vietnamese: Ngu Hanh Son; literally "five elements mountains") is a popular sightseeing location in Da Nang owing to its picturesque surroundings. The stone steps carved into the mountain face lead to a Buddhist Pagoda up the rocky mountain and up the hill, you will find plenty of exercises to try out with local folks as well. You can also see for yourself the stunning caves and enjoy the beautiful view from the top of the mountain as you search for photo opportunities and ideal locations to snap a picture.
After climbing up and reaching the top of the mountain, you will then head down the mountain and visit the stone village where skilled local sculptors will show you how to create various marble products. Then, you will head over to Am Phu Cave where you will get to see a replica of heaven and hell, visit the eerie underground tunnels and enjoy the towering rock formation from inside the cave tunnels.
Before getting back to the hotel, you will head over to Linh Ung Pagoda. Built under the reign of King Minh Mang during the Nguyen Dynasty, it was said that a Buddhist statue drifted downstream to the area and got anchored at a sandy embankment. The local villagers thought it was a heavenly sign and thus built up a small pagoda to worship the statue and the occasion. From that day onwards, it was said that the whole coastal region enjoyed good weather and was protected from impending storms while the river was blessed with rich resources and plentiful of fish. It is just a legend, but you will find that amidst the supposed mythological essence of the story, the pagoda itself plays a major role in the villagers’ lives today.
