Tour Description:

Hop on a long road drive toward a small market 50 kilometers away from the borders of China. Located close to Muong Khuong. Lung Khau Nhin is a small market situated in the Lao Cai rural district of Vietnam. Though not as big as other famous markets such as Bac Ha or Coc Ly, Lung Khau Nhin is one of the most long-standing and enduring markets of Lao Cai. Left untouched by the rapid industrialization and modernization, Lung Khau Nhin Market still has a touch of authenticity reminiscent of days of yore attached to it. Lying openly on a small stretch of road, the market is as vibrant and colourful as any other market of Lao Cai. The fresh colours of the Nung, Flower Hmong, Black Dao, Tu Di and Giay’s traditional costumes light up the entire area in resplendent attire. The yellow citrus, green vegetables and brown roasted meat create the perfect background for the locals and provide you with ample photo opportunities for yourself.

Everything blends in together flawlessly and you will find yourself asking what is next as you explore the nook and cranny of the market. Too hungry and tired? You can make a stop at a local food stall and fill in your upset tummy while you go around the market. Be sure to also take a closer look at the animal's section where pigs, horses, hens, and dogs are gathered together in one place. These animals play a big role in the sustainability of the locals’ daily lives and you will find out just how integral they are to the farmers and barn owners. If you are fascinated by the colourful attire, make a stop at the fabric stall and get yourself some colours to bring home. There is truly a lot more that Lung Khau Nhin has to offer, all you have to do is simply keep a close lookout for it.

Then, take a short break after lunch and recharge yourself before the next activities. Take a boat trip on Chay river and be mesmerised by the panorama riverbank in the late afternoon. The verdant fields, the beautiful lush garden and the shimmer of the golden river water will take your breath away as you row down the river. Alternatively, you can trek down the valley to the nearby villages. On the way, you can stop by the village of the Nung tribe which is surrounded by mountain ranges and golden rice fields. Along the way, listen to local folklore, legends and tales and learn more about their culture imbued between the line of their stories. Then, stop by the Flower Hmong village and feast your eyes at the vibrant attire they don themselves in. Aside from their unique clothing. the Flower Hmong tribe also believe that everything, from the ceiling to the pillar of the house, has its own soul. Therefore, every single object should be treated with respect without considering what they stand for. Finally, bid goodbye to the villagers as you make your way to Bao Nhai bridge where a vehicle is waiting to take you back.
