Hop on a bicycle to explore the more rural side of the ancient city of Luang Prabang which includes the Ban Xieng Lek and Tad Sae Waterfall!
Your journey begins in the city centre of Luang Prabang, where you will be getting fitted for a right-sized mountain bicycle before heading to the local villages along the Mekong river that is right across an old communist bridge. Immerse yourself into the Laos culture and customs by visiting the Ban Xieng Lek village that is known for its weaving and paper-making skills. The inhabitants of the Ban Xieng Lek village are specialized in producing beautifully-crafted textiles and paper that are made out of eco-friendly materials, which includes the Saa bark. Venture further through the outer corners of the Luang Prabang city where you will come across the beautiful countryside with the wide stretch of rice paddies and also simple agrarian villages that are scattered all across the land.
Cross the Mekong river by boarding a boat where you will head to the terrace that is situated in the Nam Khan valley. Admire the towering Karst mountains that seem to be covered with lush verdant forests that thrive in these fertile land. Then, you will hop on a boat where you will ride through beautiful landscapes upriver to the stunning Tad Sae waterfall. You will be provided with a delectable lunch where you will relish in the flavours of Laos. Revel in the serene ambience of the Tad Sae Waterfall that is only surrounded by only nature. Swim around the blue pool, where you will feel refreshed and reinvigorated after an exhausting bicycle ride. Lucky adventurers may even meet an elephants face-to-face that visit the waterfall to bathe. Feel free to purchase some bananas or sugarcane nearby to feed the friendly elephants.
During low season of the Tad Sae waterfall, the waterfall is dry with less water flowing through and thus will not be visited. You will head to the camp where you will take a boat ride in the beautiful atmosphere and then make a short trek along a beaten path in the jungle where you will have a chance to discover an abundance of flora and fauna. Stumble upon adorable baby elephants that reside in the jungle.
