Travel through the ancient city of Luang Prabang by going on a biking, trekking and kayaking expedition on this 3-day adventure!
Day 1 - Mountain Bicycle / Trekking / Khmu Village
Leave behind the ancient city of Luang Prabang on a quality mountain bicycle through the mountainous region, at the outskirts of the city. You will proceed to the spectacular Wat Pa Phon Phao, which is a secluded monastery located atop the hill overlooking Luang Prabang. Admire the stunning architecture of the temple, which includes a towering golden stupa proudly. The temple is visited by the believers for a forest retreat meditation. Venture further along the beaten trails to the Ban Phanom, which is a well-known weaving village that is known to produce quality fabrics. The fabrics made by the villagers were once worn by the King of Laos. Then, you will carry forward to the burial site of Henri Mahout, who was a French explorer that travelled through South Asia and popularised the Angkor Wat. During his travels through the jungles of Laos, he contracted malaria and passed away within the jungle where he was buried.
Your journey continues by travelling along the Nam Khan river, to an isolated camp within the depths of the jungle. Take a breather and rest amid the stunning jungle and rising limestone formations. Delight yourself in a delicious lunch and savour the taste of Lao food. Aboard a boat to cross the other side of the Nam Khan river at the starting point of your trek. Stroll along a trodden trek across the vast expanse of rice paddy fields and slopes to a beautiful village. Explore the secluded Khmu village and socialize with the affable villagers to gain some insight on the traditions that seem unaffected by modern times. You will retire to a local homestay that is nestled within the thick jungles in the mountain for the rest of the night.
Day 2 - Jungle Trek / Hmong and Khmu Villages
Begin the day by consuming a hearty breakfast, you will proceed to the most challenging trek during your entire adventure. Traverse along the paths in between the rising limestone karsts, that is widely used amongst the locals during the daily lives. Along the way, you will visit the isolated Khmu and Hmong villages that are away from bustling cities. Venture through the roads to observe the traditional culture of the minority Khmu and Hmong groups. Learn about the way of life and how the two tribes coexist peacefully with one another, from your friendly guide. After an exhausting day, you will retire at the local homestay and experience how the villagers live. Dinner will also be provided, where you will be able to taste the unique flavours.
Day 3 - Tad Sae Waterfall / Kayaking along Nam Khan River
After consuming a delicious breakfast, say goodbye to the friendly villagers as you depart from the Khmu and Hmong village, heading off to the mountain. Travel along the well-used trails that will take you to the breathtaking Tad Sae waterfall. Enjoy within the atmosphere of the cascading waters and lush jungle landscapes as you arrive at the Tad Sae Waterfall. Take a dip into the cool pool at the base of the waterfall and feel relaxed after a tiring trek along the trails. Take the chance to explore the lush jungles that are amid the Tad Sae Waterfall.
Leave the Tad Sae waterfall and head to the river, where you will board the boat and head downriver to begin your thrilling kayaking expedition. Before starting your kayaking expedition, you will be given the proper safety and equipment briefings by the skilled experts. Head off through your kayaking trip along the calm river, where you may experience rapids, grade one to two along the way. The surroundings are filled with rich banana and teak trees aligned by the river. Catch the sights of the wide stretch of rice paddies and terraced pineapple plantations along the way. The secluded Lao Leum and Lao Theung will be nestled along the way before leaving the friendly smiles behind and heading to the ancient city of Luang Prabang.
