You will proceed to the spectacular Wat Pa Phon Phao, which is a secluded monastery located atop the hill overlooking Luang Prabang. Admire the stunning architecture of the temple, which includes a towering golden stupa proudly. The temple is visited by the believers for a forest retreat meditation. Venture further along the beaten trails to the Ban Phanom, which is a well-known weaving village that is known to produce quality fabrics. The fabrics made by the villagers were once worn by the King of Laos. Then, you will carry forward to the burial site of Henri Mahout, who was a French explorer that travelled through South Asia and popularised the Angkor Wat. During his travels through the jungles of Laos, he contracted malaria and passed away within the jungle where he was buried.

Your journey continues by travelling along the Nam Khan river, to an isolated camp within the depths of the jungle. Take a breather and rest amid the stunning jungle and rising limestone formations. Delight yourself in a delicious lunch and savour the taste of Lao food. Aboard a boat to cross the other side of the Nam Khan river at the starting point of your trek. Stroll along a trodden trek across the vast expanse of rice paddy fields and slopes to a beautiful village. Explore the secluded Khmu village and socialize with the affable villagers to gain some insight on the traditions that seem unaffected by modern times. You will retire to a local homestay that is nestled within the thick jungles in the mountain for the rest of the night.

Venture through the roads to observe the traditional culture of the minority Khmu and Hmong groups. Learn about the way of life and how the two tribes coexist peacefully with one another, from your friendly guide. After an exhausting day, you will retire at the local homestay and experience how the villagers live. Dinner will also be provided, where you will be able to taste the unique flavours.

Day 3 - Tad Sae Waterfall / Kayaking along Nam Khan River
