Pay respect to the fallen soldiers of the 1st Australian Task Force during the Vietnam War by visiting Vung Tau’s original site for the battle of Long Tan.
The history of Vietnam’s war is not limited to the battle of French colonialism per se. There is also the Vietnam War and numerous internal wars fought between fellow Vietnamese countrymen which has helped shape the society it is today. One of them is the battle at Long Tan, which is known for its iconic battle nature. It is particularly famous because it involved the 1st Australian Task Force army in the process and that it took place in a local plantation. Even recently in 2016, a low-key ceremony was held on the site of the battle to remember its 50th anniversary. It is said that more than 1,000 Australian veterans and their families travelled to Vietnam to pay respect to their fallen fellow soldiers.
