Walk your way and explore the beautiful primary forest of Loagan Bunut as you go on a nature discovery to learn more about the hidden and mysterious charms of the lake.
Loagan Bunut, the lake of mystery and wonder. Unlike what you may think, the name Loagan Bunut is not the original name of the jungle or the national park. It was originally the name of the lake. Contrary to your conventional lake, however, this special lake is able to dry itself up during the dry season and fill itself back again once the rainy season sets in.
This very attribute has allowed for two unique and different experiences available for you to explore. During the dry season, you will be more than welcome to walk along the muddy ground of the lake as you plunge into the shallow lake. Or, if you prefer, you can also get on track with some trekking along the lake’s outer perimeter. While the ground may be muddy and challenging, keep a lookout for several established trail sprawled along the side of the lake that will make your trekking adventure much more comfortable.
Of course, the lake ecosystem is one of the place’s attractive factors but the vicinity of Loagan Bunut also packs quite a punch. You can catch a glimpse of the barking deer, bearded pig, Langur monkey and the famous tiny mouse deer along the way as you explore the pristine forest of the lake. If you are visiting during the rainy season, you will be able to go for a boat ride with the local fishermen to explore more of the lake. Occasionally, you may even find monkeys peeking through the foliage or barking deer drinking by the lake. Alternatively, you can also take part in some fishing and learn some new techniques from the local fishermen. With the rising and falling water level of the lake, the fishermen have devised a unique style called the “Selambau” where you can actually scoop up the fish alongside the rising and falling of the water. If you are interested, approach the local fishermen for some one-on-one lesson on this unique fishing technique.
With two days on your hand, you will get to have the full experience of both the lake and the jungle whichever season you find yourself at. So pack up and rile up your energy for a two days’ worth of fun and adventure in this pristine rainforest.
