Experience Laos like never before by riding on a bicycle away from the bustling cities and to the rural villages and the beautiful Wat Pa Phon Phao that sits atop a hill!
Rise and shine to an adventure to explore the countryside of Luang Prabang where you will have an opportunity to discover the authentic Laos life. Before the adventure begins, you will be properly fitted to the mountain bicycles and then depart out of town to the north heading right by the Mekong rivers. Ride across the old communist bridge where you will approach the Xieng Lek village, where the inhabitants of the village are known to make mulberry paper and artisanal weaving. Take the opportunity to immerse yourself in the customs and daily lives of the inhabitants of the village by interacting with them.
Head to the Nam Xuang river where you will revel in the beautiful sights of the outlines of mountains and lush tropical forests before steering back to the roads. Soar through stunning villages and the vast expanse of the rice fields by cycling up and down on the off-road in the countryside. Your journey continues to the Lao Leum, Hmong and Khmu villages where you will have a chance to capture the lives of the simple farmers that live in their agrarian lifestyles. Venture further on the beaten trail where you will finally approach the Nam Khan river. The Nam Khan river flows through to Luang Prabang and it is a major tributary river to the Mekong river, where it will meet at a cross point at Luang Prabang.
Traverse to the stunning Wat Pa Phon Phao, which can be interpreted as the “Peacefulness Temple” as the temple is situated on top of a hill overlooking the ancient city of Luang Prabang and the temple is a stone's throw away from the Nam Khan river. The Wat Pa Phon Phao is mainly used as a forest meditation retreat and the architecture of the temple will surely take your breath away with its huge golden stupa and beautifully-crafted detailings. Your adventure approaches an end as you make your descend to the city where you will return the bicycles back to the proper place.
