Tour Description:

Take a unique way of immersing yourself in the Laos culture by participating in the cooking class with a local chef! In this tour, you will have a chance to gain some knowledge and skills on cooking Laos cuisine. The Laos cuisine is heavily influenced by the Chinese food due to the origins of Lao people migrating from the northern part of China to Laos. The Laos cuisine shares some similarities to their neighbouring cuisine, which include the spicy soup, sticky rice and a wide variety of dishes which include meat-based dishes that are usually shared amongst a table. After morning breakfast, you will make your way to the location where you will meet and interact with the skilled chef that will teach you the cooking skills. Traverse through the bustling streets on the iconic three-wheeler tuk-tuk where you will stumble upon the local Lao market and learn the methods of picking the right ingredients for a truly delightful tasting experience.

After visiting the market, you will head to the local family-run cafe, which is not that well-known by other travellers, where you will have an enjoyable time indulging in some delicious coffee and local treats. Then, you will make your way to the private house that is a stone’s throw away from the Mekong river, which is where you will begin your cooking adventure. Upon arrival, you will be given a welcome drink by the host of the class. Then, you will be taught to ways of cooking a wide variety of Laos food from how to grill or steam meat and vegetable. After learning the art of Lao cooking, you will then taste your delicious creation under the wonderful shade of a mango tree in the serene ambience. You will also be provided with a Lao recipe booklet to help you in your pursuit to mastering Lao cuisine when you are in the comforts of your own home.
