An exciting trip for adventure lovers to ethnic villages of Lao Chai, Ta Van, and Giang Ta Chai to uncover the beauty of Sapa and more.
Get on the car and drive from Sapa to Lao Cai to start on your trekking adventure. Walk along Muong Hoa slope, through the meandering mountainous path of Hoang Lien Mountain range and arrive at Lao Chai village. Similar to the road leading to the village itself, Lao Chai is surrounded by mountains: the Hoang Lien Mountain and the Ham Rong Mountain range. Lying in the peach-shaped valley, the first thing of Lao Chai that will catch your attention is going to be the endless lush rice terraces. Watching the rice terrace from afar, you will feel like they are extending to the very doorstep of each villager’s house. Visit Lao Chai and come across the daily routine of the locals, the hard working Black Hmong at the rice fields as well as their meticulous hand-made colourful brocades.
Then, continue on your adventure to Ta Van village. The trail to Ta Van is narrow and small. To enter Ta Van, you need to go past thick bushes, colourful flowers on the side of the roads and across a suspension bridge. Ta Van is situated close to Lao Chai, thus, it is also surrounded by tall proud mountains, and the vast rice terrace seems like the staircase leading up to the peak of the mountains. Stumble upon the unending corn fields when strolling around the village. Ta Van is one of the few places you can meet the Giay people. Therefore, take a break and enjoy lunch at a local traditional house. Enjoy the delightful steamy food while talking to the villagers, gaining more insight into their culture and everyday life. Have a short rest after the meal to fully recharge yourself.
Leaving Ta Van behind, continue on your adventure to Giang Ta Chai village. On your way there, you will come across a magnificent waterfall. Stop to appreciate the beauty of it or maybe take some pictures as a remembrance. Have another short rest at the waterfall before carrying on the adventure through the bamboo forest to Giang Ta Chai. Unlike the two previous destinations, this village is enveloped in dense green forests. This is where you will encounter the Red Dao. Dao people, like their fellow ethnic group, they do sophisticated brocades, carve beautiful silver jewellery, knit bags and farming work for their living. Moreover, the Red Dao at Ta Chai is well-known for their herbal baths, which is known to bring numerous benefits to the skin and health in general. Giang Ta Chai will also be your last stop as you will be walking back to the main road, where a vehicle is waiting to take you back after the exciting adventure.
