Tour Description:

A wonderful trip to Langkawi is never complete without a mangrove river cruise. Mangrove forests are a unique ecosystem on their own and are predominantly found along the hidden coast where they are cultivated copiously in saline soil and brackish water depending on the seasonal fresh and saltwater tides. Mangroves are biologically diverse ecosystems and are very delicate. They play an important role to their surrounding habitats and are highly productive and an essential resource for coastal communities as they help stabilise the coastline resulting in a reduction in erosion from natural causes such as tides, currents and waves.

Our adventure will take us to the Kubang Badak River on the north of Langkawi where this delicately balanced ecosystem lies. Home to these unique group of plants, mangrove forests have specific unique characteristics to enable their quick adaptations to survive the harsh conditions of this habitat. As the constant changes in the environment are ongoing, admire the elaborate root system of the mangroves become an attraction to fish and other such organisms in search of food and shelter from predators as we cruise through the ecological wonder.

Immerse yourself in the tranquil beauty of nature as you lay your eyes upon the lush limestone forests atop slopes of spectacular limestone outcrops along Kubang Badak River. The well-known mangrove forest here is one of the gazetted UNESCO World Heritage Sites apart from Kilim Karst Geoforest Park. As you float through the mangrove forests, catch sight of the outstanding variety of flora and fauna in the surroundings such as monitor lizards, mudskippers, kingfishers, herons, fiddler crabs and the majestic white-bellied sea eagles. If you are lucky, you might even get to see the resident otter family!

Following the informative mangrove experience, you will appease your hunger by joining a local family for a delectable home cooked meal. After enjoying the satisfying lunch, your adventure continues towards a nearby jungle trail where you will trek for a short 450m. At the end of the trail, you will be rewarded with a jungle pool among the serene and peaceful surroundings. Take a refreshing dive into the jungle pool and relax before your return.
