Tour Description:

Begin your adventure by embarking on a 1.5 hours’ drive to Lambir Hills National Park; possibly the world’s most diverse and complex forest ecosystem. Not only have experts discovered Lambir to have the world’s greatest plant biodiversity, it is also home to 237 different species of birds, wild pigs, gibbons, flying squirrels and even monkeys as well as various deer species and countless insects. In addition to Lambir’s 6,952 hectares of verdant landscape, dozens of bathing pools and dazzling waterfalls serves to add to its appeal. Being recognised as the world’s most ecologically rich region, more than half of the park is covered with a loaded mixed of dipterocarp forest where large, tall dipterocarp trees such as Meranti, Kempas, Kapur and Selangan Batu can be admired.

Our expedition commences with a crowd favourite trail, the short and effortless Latak Waterfall Trail. This extremely popular trail follows a smoothly inclining path sheltered by tree branches, and is along the course of a crystal clear, rapidly flowing stream. Along the way, you will be mesmerised by two small yet elegant waterfalls. Upon arriving at the end of the trail, the main attraction will delight you. The famous Latak waterfall feeds a large forest pool, which is enveloped on three sides by steep rock walls. The famed waterfall cascades 25 metres down a daunting drop into the far end of the pool—pleasant to swim in after a hot trek. The pool area also provides toilets, changing rooms and picnic areas. It is safe for swimming; however, for non-swimmers and small children, caution should be exercised as there are deep parts. Concluding this marvellous journey, we will trek back to the park HQ for you to be transferred back to your hotel in Miri.
