Tour Description:

The thirst for adventure is hard to satiate, we know; luckily, Kuching city has tons of promising adventures for you to explore. Take to the streets and cycle past an array of historical buildings with traces of colonial influences; swerve past amiable locals, revelling in friendly, good-natured banter; navigate through the busy streets filled with colourful tarps shielding boisterous vendors from the unforgiving sun and you’d end up a contented traveller. Without a doubt, Kuching is truly the embodiment of a multicultural society living in harmony.

On this tour, we will visit the quaint Malay Kampongs lining the banks of the great Sarawak River. Snap a picture from afar for that eye-popping long shot, paving the path to an extraordinary photo album. Then, we will hop on a sampan (a small boat widely used in Southeast Asia) to get across the river. The essence of adventures lies in true, uncompromised first-hand experiences. Here, you will get to meet and greet Kampong folks and learn more about their way of life and environment by visiting a traditional Malay wooden stilt house. Akin to the Victorian houses in England, these wooden stilt houses have been occupied by generations with plenty of stories to tell.

Enroute, you will get the opportunity to explore the exotic and bustling al fresco market of Kubah Ria. The exhibition of colours swims before your eyes as you gaze at fresh tropical fruits, vegetables, local handicrafts and jungle produce – all in one location! The jungle produce includes unique wild ferns, colourful orchids that seem to stand out from various other merchandises, as well as exotic vegetables likely not found in your country. If you’re one with a gutsy palate and strong stomach, there’s always snake meat and sago worms to pique your interest. Needless to say, a visit to the market is a must, especially during the weekend!
