The village is a 4-hour drive away from the airport and along the way you will make several stops. One stop will be to see the amazing hidden wonder of Lingko which is a wide expanse of rice fields which are shaped like a spider web. The rice fields have grown in a such a way that when viewed from above it resembles a spider’s web. A lunchbox will be served to you during the drive towards Denge where you’ll stay overnight after having a delicious dinner.

Day 2 – Denge / Trek to Waerebo

After a nice breakfast in Denge, you will begin your trek to Waerobo Village. It is the oldest traditional village of the Manggarainese. You will be trekking through what is considered to be one of the biologically-richest areas in all Indonesia. Savour the sights of the forest that has been likened to that of the Garden of Eden as it is filled with diverse vegetation and plantation with everything from orchids to palms or ferns.

You will take a rest when you reach a clear freshwater river on the way to the village. Once you arrive at the village, you will see cone-shaped houses, one of which is a “drum house” with unique architecture, used as a place for meetings, rituals and Sunday morning prayers. The “drum house” is a communal building for maintaining harmony of a clan. You’ll get to learn all about the Manggarainese people from the villagers themselves as you will have the chance to sleep in the traditional houses and enjoy meals of the local cuisine with the rest of the clan.

Day 3 – Waerobo/ Denge/ Labuan Bajo

Trek back down to Denge Village and continue your trip to the western tip of Flores Island, Labuan Bajo. Stops will be made during the drive such as a visit to Narang where there are magnificent panoramic views of rice fields with gorgeous mountains and hills are in the backdrop. You’ll also stop by Waeramu Beach which is a great spot for swimming or snorkelling. Once you arrive at your hotel you’ll check in and enjoy a nice dinner.

Day 4 – Labuan Bajo/ Komodo Island/ Pink Beach/ Rinca Kalong

Head towards Komodo Island on a 3-and-a-half-hour boat ride after having breakfast at the hotel. Komdo Island is famous for its population of the Komodo Dragon. This animal is the largest species of lizard in the world and can be dangerous when provoked. You’ll be trekking through the dry forests of the island with the help of a guide where you can enjoy the scenery of the lush jungles and also look out for young Komodo Dragons hanging from the trees.

After some time on Komodo Island you’ll set sail for Pink Beach. This beach is truly a sight to behold as its shores are actually a soft baby pink! This natural phenomenon is caused by a microscopic animal called Foraminifera that produces a red pigment on the coral reefs. Tiny fragments of the coral wash up on shore and mixes with the white sand making the cotton candy coloured sand that you’ll see today. The beach is also popular for swimming and snorkelling due to the many exotic marine lives.

Get ready to see some gigantic Manta Rays up close! You’ll sail towards Manta Point, popular amongst tourists for its high sightings of the gentle sea creatures. If the weather is good, you’ll get to snorkel in the water to really get close to the Manta Rays but you can still get a good view of them from the boat too. If you’re feeling peckish, don’t worry as your lunch will be served on board the boat before you’re brought back to Labuan Bajo. Then take a boat to Kalong Island to watch the colonies of Flying Foxes emerge from the jungle as the sun begins to set. As night descends you’ll be sleeping on the boat, in the sea.

Day 5 – Kalong/ Kanawa & Bidadari Islands/ Labuan Bajo/ Denpasar

In the morning you’ll set off to Kanawa and Bidadari Islands (also known as Angel Island) for some snorkelling or just a relaxing sunbathing on the soft sands of the beach. After playing in the water to escape the heat or just getting your skin to a golden colour you’ll be brought back to Labuan Bajo. Then its time to say goodbye as you board your flight to your next destination.
