Tour Description:

Day 1 – Denpasar / Labuan Bajo / Rinca Island / Kalong Island

Touch down at Komodo Airport in Labuan Bajo which is located in the west of Flores. Meet and greet your tour representative who will serve as your guide throughout your trip. Your tour guide will then drive you to the Labuan Bajo pier where a boat awaits you to take you to Rinca Island, a trip which will take approximately 2 and a half hours to complete. Upon arriving at the island, a local ranger will take over as your guide and lead you through the typical dry forests of the island.

These forests are home to a variety of wild animals, most notably the Komodo dragon. The Komodo dragon is endemic to several islands in Indonesia, and Rinca Island is one of them. Komodo dragons are the largest living species of any lizard in the entire world and boast strong whipping tails and a venomous bite. They are a formidable predator to many and one should always be cautious when observing them. Do not provoke or disturb these beasts as they will not hesitate to chase after you and attack.

Other wild animals on the island include are deer, water buffalo, long-tailed macaques, pigs and numerous species of colourful and tropical birds. Be on the lookout for them as you continue along your trek, and if you glance up at the branches overhead every now and then, you may spot a bird, macaque or a young Komodo dragon! When afternoon falls, embark on an open deck boat trip to Kalong Island to observe hundreds of flying foxes emerging from the mangrove forests during sunset. Enjoy your dinner onboard, then settle in for bed.

Day 2 – Komodo Island / Pink Beach / Manta Point / Labuan Bajo

After breakfast onboard, you will sail directly to Loh Liang where the Ranger station in Komodo Island is located. This journey will also take about 2 and a half hours to complete, passing through many smaller islands. Once you arrive, register for a basic trekking tour that will enable you to see more Komodo dragons as well as other wildlife. When you’re done trekking, you will return to the boat to be brought to Pink Beach.

One of the seven unique pink beaches in the entire world, Pink Beach is one of the major nature attractions at Komodo Island and there is no question as to why with its soft pastel pink shores complementing the crystal-clear waters. The reason for the sand being pink is that the sand crystals are mixed in with tiny coral fragments that have been coloured red by microscopic animals. Snorkelling, swimming or resting on the beach are some of the ideal activities to be done here.

Sail towards Manta Point later where you will be able to see huge Manta rays gliding through the water even without stepping into the water. You can opt to get into the water if the weather is good so you can get even closer to these large friendly creatures. Lunch will be provided onboard. By late afternoon, return to Labuan Bajo harbour where you will be transferred to your hotel for your dinner and rest.

Day 3 – Labuan Bajo / Denpasar

After your breakfast, go on a sightseeing tour of the city. Pay Batu Cermin (Mirror Stone) Cave a visit. It is a limestone cave with smooth reflective inner walls that reflect light like a mirror. The light shines in through a large hole in the cave. Stalactites and stalagmites along with tunnels can also be found in this cave. Move on towards a local market as your last stop in Flores before you leave for your return flight.
