Day 1 - Bangkok / Kanchanaburi
At the start of the trip, you will be picked up from your hotel at Bangkok and head to the west from the city by car for about two hours. Upon reaching the starting point for the cycling tour, you will be briefed by the staff and prepare to begin your cycling adventure in Kanchanaburi. You will ride through small and quiet roads with little traffic and past old small villages where the local villagers greet you with warm smiles and friendly gestures. We will continue our cycling by riding along irrigation canals that lead us to the heart of the paddy fields. Enjoy a picturesque scenery of vast green rice fields waving in the direction of the cool winds. Then, we will reach a small temple to take a break. The guide will explain some of the Buddhism cultures in Thailand and its importance to the locals. Lunch is next on the tour where we will enjoy some local cuisines at a restaurant. After having a delicious meal for lunch, we continue our cycling tour to Nong Khao Village to know more about the rural life in Thailand. Lastly, you will be transferred to a riverside hotel in Kanchanaburi city relax after a long day of cycling.
Day 2 - Kanchanaburi / Death Railway / Prasat Mueang Sing
Start the day with a hearty breakfast and then visit a famous bridge on River Kwai. After that, you will tour around the War Cemetery and learn about the tragic histories of World War II at the War Museum. We will then board the train and go on a ride on the Death Railway that has some amazing views on the Thailand countryside. We will have our lunch and then visit the Krasae Caves. The cave is located next to the Death Railway and is said to be where the Prisoner of Wars take a rest. There is also a Buddha image enshrined in the cave. After that, we will start cycling along some great trails in the Thailand countryside. We will pass by a few teak plantations and small Thai villages towards Prasat Mueang Sing. This historical site is about 74 hectares big and is one of the best known Khmer-style religious structures in Thailand. It is believed to be used by the Khmer Empire as a trading point along the Kwai Noi River. We will ride around the park and visit the museum to learn about this historical site. Then, we will pack up our bikes and transfer back to our hotel to relax for the rest of the day.
Day 3 - Kanchanaburi / Elephant World / River Kwai
On our third day, we will have a breakfast before we begin our cycling journey. After breakfast and gearing up for the cycle, we ride straight from the resort to our destination of the day, Elephants World. Elephants world is located in the countryside of Kanchanaburi with karst mountains surrounding it. Elephants World is an animal rescue facility specified for elephants that are sick, old and abused. There are a lot of elephants that are kept in this facility that allows visitors to interact with them. Elephants World let visitors plant banana trees and sugar canes as a food source for the elephants. Visitors will also be able to prepare, cook and feed sticky rice balls to the elephants. The elephants are very friendly and gentle. You will be able to help take care of the elephants in the facility. Then, lunch will be served to fill your empty tummy. After lunch, you will get the chance to get closer to the elephants as you help to bath them. Clean, rub, scrub and bathe the elephants. You will learn that elephants are actually one of the most gentle animals in the world. After a fun day with the elephants, we will then transfer to our safari-style resort located next to the river.
Day 4 - River Kwai Noi / Hellfire Pass / River Kwai Noi
On the morning of the 4th day, if you are early you may give alms to the monks at dawn with a walk across a suspension bridge to a nearby temple. After a hearty breakfast, we will visit the Hellfire Pass and its museum. The railway was built by forced labour during the World War II period. Then, we will walk through the 1000m pass that was cut through rocks by prisoners of war. Later, we will cycle back to our tented camp. For there, we will cycle to our next hotel which is the Jungle Raft. Along our way to Jungle Raft, we will stop by a Mon Village which is an ethnic group originally from Burma. You can get to see their way of life here and learn about their strong belief in Buddhism. Absorb the beauty of nature from your terrace above the water. The countryside of Thailand will be soothing to your heart. During the evening, you can enjoy a cultural Mon dance which is a fun and entertaining performance.
Day 5 - River Kwai Noi / Bangkok
On the last day of our tour, wake up to a delicious local breakfast. Then, we will go on a bamboo raft by the river and follow the downstream. This traditional mode of transportation allows you to witness water buffaloes coming to the water’s edge and the odd fisherman. Upon reaching our designated destination to dock, we will visit the Lawa Cave. The entrance to the cave is narrow but inside there are spacious chambers that are filled with beautiful formations of stalagmites and stalactites. Once we leave the cave, we will get on our bikes to ride around the countryside of Thailand. The first part of the ride will be on country lanes and also some dirt tracks. We will also go past a few farmlands where eggplants and many kinds of Thai herbs are widely grown. After that, we will have a lunch by the river with a beautiful scenery. Then, you will be brought back to Bangkok in a van. Depending on traffic, you should arrive in the city around 5 PM.
