Tour Description:

This free and easy self-guided cycling tour is perfect for individuals seeking to explore a city in a whole new light. Navigate the city through the carefully curated “Kampung City” route designed by locals with an intention to awe you with unfamiliar sights. This trail uncovers hidden gems one after another - from Kampung Mahmoodiah, to Kampung Tarom and lastly, Kampung Bahru.  Although “Kampung City” is only a short 10-minute drive away from Johor Bahru City Centre, the surroundings feel far more authentic and true to the peaceful local lifestyles led by natives. Prepare to be embraced by changing scenes of lush greenery, culturally-rich buildings and beautiful people!

Depending on your pace, if time allows, the Heritage City is definitely worth checking out too. Following another 20 minutes of cycling from “Kampung City”, you’ll soon find yourself entwined amongst heritage buildings charmed by their British Colonial past. This area is filled to the brim with vastly different Places of Worship such as the Johor Chinese Temple, Indian Temple, Indian Muslim Mosque and Catholic Church lined up side by side – a peek into the nation’s respect for values of multiculturalism. Grab a quick bite at one of the many trendy places that the area boasts – from hip cafes to vintage shops.

There are 2 sessions to choose from both of which avoids the hottest time of the day. Choose to do it bright and early in the morning (7 am) to inhale the freshness of the morning dew or choose to do it in the late afternoon (4 pm) to ride through sunset. The bike rental collection point sits in a residential housing area just behind Thistle Hotel. Collect your bikes during one of the 2-time slots and you’re ready to go! It is highly recommended that you follow the suggested cycling route on the map provided as it’s designed to give you the ultimate riding experience. Hit two birds with one stone by taking on this adventure - explore a beautiful city whilst breaking a sweat at the same time!
