Tour Description:

Whether you’re a beginner or veteran of rafting, Jeram Besu has something for you with its Class 1 to 3 rapids. Its Class 1 rapids are easy to navigate, and as the higher, you go up the classes, the wilder the currents get, but it only means that you’re in for a fun time! Jeram Besu is such a popular whitewater rafting spot that Malaysians from all over the country and even Singaporeans are willing to spend time and money to travel all the way here for it. Before you’re allowed to start rafting, you first have to familiarize yourself with the basics, regardless of your rafting experience.

This is done through the mandatory water confidence course which teaches you how to float in the moving water, sit and paddle in your raft, and how to resurface from a capsize in the rare event that it happens for real out on the rapids. The “man overboard” activity will have you jumping into a part of the river called the “Mother Rapids” with its churning currents. Once you’ve conquered this activity, you’re sure to be confident enough to take on those rapids in your raft!

Pay the Kuala Gandah Elephant Sanctuary a visit to spend some peaceful time with the elephants there. Home to Asian elephants and calves, this sanctuary has had over 700 elephants pass through its gates thanks to the efforts of the sanctuary team. The team does their best in locating and subduing problem elephants for rehabilitation and translocation. These elephants are in such a situation because of development which has encroached upon their habitats.

In an attempt to help curb the decline of the elephant population, the team carry out these search and rescue operations, as well as public awareness activities that help enlighten the Malaysian public to the plight of these elephants. The elephants here are not only rehabilitated – they are also trained in aiding the team with their translocation efforts. Visitors can feed these lovely elephants bananas and sugarcane, and bathe with some adorable calves in a river.

Just a short distance away is a Che Wong Orang Asli village by the jungle. The Che Wong are one of nineteen original Orang Asli groups in Peninsular Malaysia. Visit their harmonious little village with their humble homes made of various plants and wood that they acquire from the surrounding forests. Che Wong usually grows up to be hunters or farmers, and benefit either from the natural resources of the forest or cultivate fields of rice and tobacco.

On this trip, you will have half a day dedicated to trying out freshwater pond fishing techniques. If possible, try and pick up some tips and tricks from a local who has experience in the activity. Seasoned freshwater pond fishing enthusiasts recommend using lures such as sink worms, jigs, and shallow crankbaits, as this is what they say attracts freshwater pond fish. Fishing in a calmer, more restricted body of water such as a freshwater pond is definitely simpler than fishing out on the rough waters of the sea, so enjoy your time freshwater pond fishing and patiently wait for a catch.

Also on your itinerary for this trip is a half-day freshwater pond fishing activity. You will get to try out some different techniques for this type of fishing, and you can ask for tips or guidance from experienced locals. Freshwater pond fishing enthusiasts recommend lures like sink worms, jigs and shallow crankbaits as these are what they say works for attracting freshwater fish. The pond allows for a more laidback style of fishing, as the water is calm and contained. Take the time to relax as you wait for a fish to be tricked into nibbling on your lure, and try to catch as many fish as possible!
