Tour Description:

Pottery, an art as old as time itself. This delicate art of precise handiwork takes patience and skill to create and that is exactly what you will learn in this traditional craft lesson. Explore the century old pottery technique that has stood the test of time and make its way to today. The rich selection of handicraft available will fill you with a strong sense of awe and makes you eager to learn more. Choose your mode of transport from motorbike to car as you cruise the road in style.

After the pickup, first head out for some good coffee to start the day. The team will share with you the delight and richness of coffee drinking in Vietnam as you reward yourself with some delicious coffee for the day. Finishing your cup of joe, you will head straight to Hope Centre where the team will present you with some Raku technique around a cup of tea as you practise with the trainer. Then, it is time to begin the lesson. Feel your creative juice flowing as you decorate a piece of pottery with special glazing. You are free to imbue your own colour and pattern and make it your own. Experience the joy of being able to craft your own ceramic pottery and make it your own.

After you finish designing, follow your trainer to arrange all the pieces inside the kiln to start the firing process. Once a good hour or an hour and half has passed, the kiln will reach 1000 degree Celcius and you will be able to assemble them into containers full of sawdust and create flames and smoke for the typical raku glazing. While you are waiting for the product of your masterpiece, sit down and enjoy some good lunch alongside good company at a traditional Vietnamese restaurant. As you enjoy the delicious food, share your stories and experiences with your fellow travellers and guides on how you find the lesson to be. Once your pottery pieces are assembled, clean your pottery pieces and discover all the different colours. Finishing your craft, we will drop you back at the hotel where you will get to admire your work and take a quick break before going out for another afternoon exploration around the city.
