Tour Description:

Have you ever wondered how the whole process of rice making is done? As the most common staple of the Southeast Asian region, the rice production process has been perfected to the extent of mass production. But of course, the mass production process still stay true to the aged old method that has been in existent since the days of yore. Even before the production process, there is much to do with the crop itself - ploughing, sowing, fertilizing - all for the sake of producing the best possible crop. Join the local experts in their day to day production process and learn just what it takes for you to be able to farm your very own paddy field in this tour. So prepare yourself for an enriching and educating experience as you go hands-on (literally) on the field.

You will be picked up from your hotel by our friendly tour guide once you are ready. The journey to the rice field is by bicycle so gear up for a pedal to the farm. Of course, if you do not know how to ride one, you can opt for our “Xe Om” scooter services (with an extra 140,000 VND charge). Of course, you can also ride the van and make your way to the destination but we do highly recommend using the bike. You will get to see the scenic countryside view as you take in the fresh air away from the hustle and bustle of the city and pedal along the beautiful country road. It also serves as a good exercise if you have an active lifestyle so be sure not to miss out on it.

Upon your arrival, you will meet your host farmer family. As you prepare for what is to come, feel free to share to talk with the host family and get to learn more about the household’s daily life. Do not forget to don your farmer clothes, conical hat and boots as you will begin farming immediately after the setup. Learn more from the local farmers on how they go about growing their wet rice crops including what is involved in the process. Familiarise yourself with the process of water buffalo ploughing, agricultural watering system and even placing the baby rice crop onto the muddy field. Be prepared to get your hands dirty as you sweat, toil and laugh together with your host family under the afternoon sun.

Then, enjoy some buffalo ride at a small pond on the rice farm and help yourself to some delicious local meal and tea with your fellow farmers and host family. Finally, wrap up your trip and return to your hotel on your minivan after an afternoon of good toil and hard work.

• Cancellations made more than four days from commencement date will be given full refund
• Cancellations made less than four days before commencement date will incur a 50% cancellation fee
• There will be no refunds given for cancellations made one day before or less from commencement date
