Wake up and get yourself ready as you will make your way straight to Hoi An port from your hotel. Get pumped up for a whole afternoon of cultural and artistic discovery as you will be visiting Cam Kim carpentry village (Kim Bong Woodwork Village) and Thanh Ha pottery village today. Kim Bong carpentry village belongs to the Cam Kim Commune, located just on the other side of Hoi An river. You will also be happy to know that you will be taking the boat to visit both these villages. The carpentry industry is very famous and the products are sold in many provinces around Central Vietnam. Their beautiful masterpieces include rafters, pillars, altars, tables, chairs and beds. Feast your eyes on the intricate and beautiful work of art that is reflective of the very village they all come from. In fact, most of the architectural projects in Hoi An were constructed by the locals in this village. The Kim Bong carpenters still keep to their traditional carpentry technique in Thanh Ha pottery village and are still doing their work the same way their forefathers did in the past. Skillfully and carefully, they turn clay into pretty vases, teapots, piggy banks, wine bottles, water jars, and kettles. The skilful Kim Bong carpenters had also built big trade ships to help transport and exchange their goods around.
Once you arrive, you will get the chance to see the talented craftsmen going about their daily lives making wooden and ceramic products. Our local guide will be your greatest companion and will be more than happy to explain to you about the history and uniqueness of the village throughout your journey. You will then visit the eastern part of the village where boats are made and the western part of the village where carpentry carvings are made. Do not feel reserved and feel free to talk to the carpenters about their work as well. They have been doing this for years and will be more than happy to share their stories with you. Learn more from the local carpenters on how you can make your own beautiful wooden crafts and discover more about their culture as you spend your morning with them.
