Experience a culturally and historically immersive countryside experience as you cycle pass the scenic roads of the countryside and find out more about the lesser known side of Vietnam.
There is much to see in rural Vietnam that you will never get to see in the city. Panoramic view aside, a bike ride around the rural neighbourhood will reveal to you a whole different side of Vietnam as opposed to the city. Of course, this might sound like a given but imagine being able to take part in the many different activities that the locals carry out during their daily lives as well. Even better, you will be able to get up close and personal with the allure of the countryside by cycling and enjoying the scenic change in the landscape at the same time. Plus, if you have always wondered how you can pick up some new fishing skill, this is the perfect time and chance to try out some new techniques and methods as well.
You will start your journey by cycling your way to a local farming village with a 5 - 6 km distance from the city. On your way there, be sure to breathe in that fresh clean air into your lungs and feel the difference in quality compared to the city’s miasma. As you rejuvenate with every breath you take in, you will soon find yourself at the village. There, you will gear up and take part in the local farming activities, ranging from hoeing the soil to riding water buffaloes as you plough the field. After a good day’s work, unwind with a cup of tea or coffee accompanied by some light snacks as you cruise the river to the estuary of Cua Dai Sea. Here, you will get to take part in another eye-opening experience! Join your friendly local fishermen as they carry out some round net and cast net fishing. If you fear that the fishing session may be boring, worry not! You will also be taught how to enjoy some cultural folk music of Ba Trao by your local fishermen. So dance to the tune and sway to the beat as you wait for the fish to come and enjoy a lively morning.
Then, get the opportunity to also learn how you can paddle the Vietnamese bamboo basket boat. This basket-shaped boat truly lives up to its name with an additional surprise - the fact that it easily floats on the water surface also makes for a good way to employ some additional twist to the boat ride. In fact, you will see that this feature can go as far as to enable locals to engage in a basket boat dancing or Thung Chai. Feel free to try but remember that Rome wasn’t built in a day so do exercise caution.
Then make your way to the serene coconut -palm flanked waterways and stop by the nearby village. Feel free to have some tea and enjoy some snacks as you converse with the locals and learn more about how they go about doing their daily lives and chores in the village. Enjoy some additional fun time as you make beautiful origami from reed of palm leaves such as grasshopper, birds, ring, sunglasses or bracelets before going back to your boat and making your way back.
Finally, enjoy some cold beer or soft drink with your lunch and make your way back to your hotel by coach as the tour concludes.
