Visit the charming Tra Que Vegetable Village near Hoi An and discover the traditional farming methods on this cycling adventure.
While Hoi An is famous for its medieval charm, the nearby countryside boasts natural appeals and traditional way of life. This cycling tour will allow you to explore the scenic countryside and experience the local culture on a farm. We will gather at the designated meeting point and set off to the old district of Hoi An. As we stroll along the street, we will arrive at the riverfront and board the boat heading to Cam Kim Island. In a short 10 minutes, we will reach the serene island that shows a glimpse of Vietnam’s countryside.
We will start our journey by cycling through the rice fields and villages on narrow dirt trails. As we ride down this trail, we could also spot the boat-building sites where the local fishing boats are being constructed. Along with this trail, we will notice the change in scenery and discover interesting sights such as lively duck farms, enchanting old pagodas and the friendly locals who are going about their daily activities. After wandering for around 30 minutes, we will stop for a short snack break to recharge our energy. We will then head back to the riverside and board another boat to Cam Thanh village. As we arrive at the village, we will continue to cycle along the rural paths for around 20 minutes before turning into the single track road leading to our destination of the day, Tra Que vegetable village.
Once we reach Tra Que, we will learn how to cultivate the vegetables and even practice the traditional farming methods here. The vegetables from this area are famous for being chemical-free and popular among those who are conscious about their food consumption. Thus, we will not miss the chance to sample the fresh produce from this farm. Next up, we will learn how to make the local pancake dish, Banh Xeo in a cooking class. Besides eating the delicious dish on the spot, you may also practice making one at home. This informative trip to Tra Que vegetable farm will definitely broaden your knowledge of the local culture. Our cycling tour concludes as we ride back to the city after pedalling for around 15 minutes.
