Visit the largest Buddhist temple in the world, the Borobudur temple and also the Pawon temple and Mendut temple!
Delve into the historical sites of Indonesia as you visit the mystical Borobudur Temple that was assembled during the 9th-century. The Borobudur acts as a Mahayana Buddhist temple and it is ranked as the world’s largest Buddhist temple. King Samaratungga was responsible for building the magnificent temple on a small hill in Kedu Basin on a spacious land with an expansive view of nature to admire at your own delight.
The temple acts as a site of pilgrimage for the local Indonesian Buddhist during Vesak day at the monument. From the temple, you will get to admire the picturesque landscape of Mount Merapi and Mount Merbabu with the sky seemingly touching the mountains to the east of the temple and to the west you will see Mount Sumbing and Mount Sindoro being enveloped by white clouds. The temple is also encompassed by spiky hills called the Menorah Hills at the South and West. The temple is also located in the vicinity of a crossroad between the Elo and Progo rivers. It was believed that the river was emblematic of the Gangga and Yamuna, which were involved in feeding the Indus Valley in India. After the visit to Borobudur temple, you will make your way to visit the Pawon temple that is located in the central of a local village and Mendut temple where you will admire a tall monument of the Buddha Sakyamuni. After an exhausting journey, you will prepare to make your way back to your hotel with the fondest memories.
