Ha Long Bay near the Chinese border and one of the most beautiful places in the northern part of Vietnam. It still retains much of its glamour from the spoils of urbanisation which makes it unique and beautiful. The bay is made up of with some 3,000 monolithic limestone islands and islets that spans across an area of 1,500 sqkm. This extraordinary place was titled as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994. There is a wide range of biodiversity while the surrealistic terrain is a sight to behold. Ha Long Bay means “Bay of the Descending Dragon” in the local language. Several of the islands are hollow and features enormous caves that support floating villages of fishermen. In the shallow waters, you will find some 200 species of fishes and 450 different kinds of mollusks.
The tour starts off with setting out to sea on to cruise among the thousands of limestone mountains and other rock formations. Cruising through the still water, you will first pass by the Stone Dog Islet which formation looks like a dog climbing up a mountain. The Incense Burner Islet (Also known as Dinh Huong Islet) will just be around the corner and you will be able to view. The pins beneath are only visible when the tide is low, and it is one of the most iconic images of Halong Bay. You can also see it being printed on the 200,000 VDN note signifying its symbolic value in Vietnam. It Dinh Huong is also a piece of important evidence to learn more about the geography of the Halong Bay landscape.
Next, you will visit the Fighting Rooster Islets and the Heaven Grotto (Thien Cung Cave). The Fighting rooster Islets have been standing for thousands of years and according to local folklore, it represents faithfulness of love. At the Heaven Grotto (Thien Cung Cave), you will find some of the most beautiful stalagmites and stalactites deep inside the cave.
