Day 1 - Hanoi / Xuan Giang

You will be picked up from your hotel at 8:00 A.M. Immediately afterwards, you will exit Hanoi on a highway and be on your way to a winding road to Yen Binh - the southern edge town of Ha Giang Province. When afternoon comes around, you will find yourself at Xuan Giang Village. To the back, you can see the towering mountain you just passed. To the front, the low relief of rice fields, forests and rivers are tempting to go right ahead and explore all of them in one whole swoop. Check yourself into a local homestay where you will also be able to enjoy some local lunch prepared by your friendly host. Then, if weather permits, you will spend the rest of the day doing some light trekking around the quaint rural area before returning back for dinner and retiring for the day.

Day 2 - Xuan Giang / Quan Ba

With breakfast done, say goodbye to your host family and continue your way to Quan Ba. The road up the mountain will take you to the Heaven’s Gate, the iconic entrance to Dong Van Geopark. Afterwards, alight from your car for a light trek from the road to Nam Dam, the village of Dzao. The trek itself will conclude at Nam Dam Dzao Lodge where your late lunch will be served. Then, you will have the remaining of the day for a leisurely relaxation around the lodge before dinnertime and bedtime quickly come around.

Day 3 - Quan Ba / Meo Vac

The morning starts with a hearty breakfast before the toil of the day begins. You will be going on 2.5 hours scenic hike on the trails to Lung Tam Village. Upon your arrival, there will be many opportunities to visit a local workshop where women have cultivated and weaved hemp from generations before. After your hike, get back to your car and enjoy the scenic journey along Dong Van Geopark trail - a rocky plateau with towering peaks, pine forests and wide valleys. Get the camera snapping and charging as you pass by this UNESCO wonder. Then, you will have your lunch at Yen Minh before going for a break at Dong Van town. Then, you will head to Meo Vac via Ma Pi Leng pass for a wondrous sightseeing journey of the limestone rock formations and mountain range sprawled around the area. Finally, check yourself into the Meo Vac lodge and retire for the day.

Day 4 - Meo Vac

Today, it will be all about the cultural exploration of the Meo Vac region. As many as 16 ethnic groups live in the rocky mountain and deep rock valleys, all with their own share of unique cultures. You will pack your lunch and depart from your lodge for a day’s hike amidst this beautiful and picturesque valley of Meo Vac. Encounters with the local dwellers on their way to work in their corn fields will strike up a friendly conversation on how they go about their daily lives and what they look forward to at the end of the day. The hike itself will be relaxing and will go at your own pace so be sure to make the best use of the entire day. Finally, spend your second night and dinner at the lodge.

Day 5 - Meo Vac/ Ba Be

Leaving Meo Vac after breakfast, the day’s drive will pass by beautiful scenery that is sure to capture your eyes. Journey your way through three different provinces of Ha Giang, Cao Bang and Bac Kan as you make your way around the corners of the road enjoying the beautiful view of the road. Should the weather permits there will be opportunities to make a stop at some local villages en-route such as the Niem Son Valley’s Nung people village. The final destination for today, though, is the Pac Ngoi Village in Ba Be National in the mid-afternoon. Finally, have your dinner and spend the night with the Tay family in their traditional house-on-silts.

Day 6 - Ba Be National Park

With breakfast done, make your way for a quick transfer to the main wharves of the biggest natural lake in Vietnam. Make your way from up north to down south of the lake and capture the stunning beauty of the crystal clear water. From the north, you will veer off Gam River and slide it up to the remote jungle village of Dau Dang. By lunchtime, you will arrive at your host family home and be warmly welcomed by Mr. Hien and Mrs. Thom, both the owners of the region’s best restaurant. After lunch and a few shots of corn liquor, you will get back on the boat and slide down the river all the way to Puong Cave as you pass and follow the current to the road point for a transfer to Pac Ngoi. There, you can finally take a shower, enjoy your dinner and settle down for the evening.

Day 7 - Ba Be/ Hanoi

The morning is easy and calm. You will have the chance to stroll around one last time before your lunch session at the homestay. Exit the park in the afternoon on a small road, bid your farewell to the turquoise lake and head back to Hanoi for arrival at 6:00 pm.
