Go on an adventurous ride into the mysterious Golden Triangle and discover its hidden treasures!
Day 1 - Chiang Rai / Hall of Opium
On the day, we will pick you up from Chiang Rai city and then transfer straight to the Hall of Opium. This opium museum is the highlight of the Golden Triangle which depicts the story of opium cultivation and its effect on society. The museum is a combination of both multimedia and exhibition to educate people about opium. It is a comprehensive museum about opium where it portrays every angle of the opium story such as its origin, opium war, history of Golden Triangle, opium warlords, drug smuggler, opium effects and many more. After a tour in the museum, we will start our cycling journey. We will cycle along dirt tracks and past seasonal fruit plantations accompanied with scenic during the ride. At the end of the ride, we will reach our hotel.
Day 2 - Mekong River / Chiang Khong / Huai Sai Man / Hmong Village
Our second day starts off with a visit to the Golden Buddha near the village of Ban Saeo after a hearty breakfast. The beginning of our ride today will be slightly more challenging as we follow the Mekong River. We will ride east from Chiang Saen towards Chiang Khong through various plantations such as chilli, eggplant, lychee and others. For our lunch, we will stop by a riverside restaurant where our hosts grow most of the vegetables for our meal. After lunch and riding a few kilometres, you have a choice to either get in the van or try the challenging 2 kilometres climb to Huai Sai Man viewpoint. We will spend our night today at a lodge in the middle of a Hmong village. After settling in, we will have tea with the shaman and learn a thing or two about Hmong customs. There is also an option to help villagers plant trees at the Herbal Plant Nursery Project with a small fee.
Day 3 - Wat Rong Khun / Chiang Rai
On the final day, we wake up to a luscious breakfast. Then we will start our cycling journey towards Chiang Rai. We start cycling west and ride on small country roads that is peaceful and calm. We will ride between fields and karsts jutting out of the landscapes. Before we reach the Chiang Rai city, we will stop by the famous Wat Rong Khun, otherwise known as the White Temple for a visit. This modern temple was designed and built by a local artist. Its completely white appearance is how it gets the name of White Temple. The temple is also unique as its interior is filled with contemporary visuals. After our visit at Wat Rong Khun, the tour ends and we will drop you off at your hotel in Chiang Rai or the airport.
