Explore the amazing landscapes of Flores such as Kelimutu Volcano and Bajawa as well as experiencing the culture at villages such as Todolela or Bena.
Day 1 – Denpasar / Ende / Moni
Touch down at Ende and be greeted by your tour guide before driving directly to Moni. You’ll take a short visit to Detusoko area to see the wide expanses of the terraced rice fields on the lush slopes. Once you arrive at Moni you’ll check in to your hotel.
Day 2 – Moni / Kelimutu / Riung
Start your day bright and early to travel to Kelimutu Volcano to watch the sunrise. Besides an amazing view of the sunrise, you’ll also get to see the beautiful three-coloured crater lake. These lakes range from a vibrant blue to an intense red colour, making for an amazing photo opportunity. Then continue your journey to Saga and Wologai village to witness the everyday lives of the locals and learn more about their culture. You’ll be served lunch at a local restaurant in Ende before continuing to Riung. En route you’ll make a stop at Penggajawa Blue stone beach that’s made up entirely of turquoise stones. These stones are collected by local women and are then sold to buyers from the city.
Day 3 – Riung / Bajawa
Take a boat trip to explore the sea garden of seventeen islands. The beautiful reef of the ‘Seventeen Islands’ offers amazing views of hard and soft coral reefs as well as vibrant exotic fish. As you can tell from the name, there are a total of 17 islands with soft, white sand beaches perfect for swimming. While you enjoy a nice, relaxing time on the island you’ll be served a BBQ lunch before sailing back to Riung. Then you’ll drive up to Bajawa and make a stop at Soa which a natural hot spring. Soak your aching muscles in the relaxing warm waters of the hot springs before going to Bajawa. You’ll spend the night at the small town of Bajawa that’s the capital city of Ngada Regency.
Day 4 – Bajawa / Bena / Todolela / Gurusina / Malange / Bajawa
Start your trip today with a drive to the base of Wawomuda and trek to the volcano’s crater. The journey should take around one and a half hours and you’ll get to have an amazing view of the volcano. Then head back to Bajawa for breakfast before going to Bena and Todolela village. While on your way to the villages, you’ll be served a delicious lunch. Bena and Todolela are traditional villages where you can experience their culture which places an importance on preserving their ancestral spirits. While you explore the villages you’ll also get to see animals like water buffalos and goats. You’ll also get a tour of their vanilla, cacao, coffee and other plantations in the village. You’ll continue your trekking excursion to the Malange hot springs for another relaxing dip into the steaming hot springs. Then you’ll drive back to Bajawa for dinner and a good night’s rest.
Day 5 – Bajawa / Ruteng
Embark on a drive to the small town of Ruteng and this area has a major Manggarainese tribe dwelt. On the way, you’ll make a stop at Aimere village to see an ‘arak’ distillation and fresh palm juice tapping. You’ll also get to visit the ‘Ranamese’ Lake to take amazing photos at Mano which has gorgeous terrace rice fields. Once you arrive at Ruteng you’ll check in to your accommodation for the night. Then you’ll visit ‘Liang Bua’ the home of the Homo Florensies.
Day 6 – Ruteng / Labuan Bajo / Rinca / Komodo
After breakfast drive to Labuan Bajo at the Western tip of Flores Island. On the way you’ll stop at Lembor and Cancar area to see the hidden wonder of the world “Lingko” which is a rice field in the shape of a spider’s web. Upon arrival at Labuan Bajo, head to the pier and take a two-and-a-half-hour boat ride to Rinca Island. You’ll embark on a trek through the tropical forests where you’ll get to see the infamous Komodo dragon. You’ll be served lunch on the boat.
Day 7 – Komodo / Pink Beach / Manta Point / Labuan Bajo
Sail to Lohliang to the Komodo Ranger station and start trekking on Komodo island. You’ll walk through dry forests and see many wild animals besides the Komodo dragon such as deer and wild pigs. Don’t worry about getting lost as you’ll be lead through the forests by a local ranger guide. Then board the boat and head to Pink beach for some fun swimming and snorkelling. You’ll get to explore the vibrant coral reefs and witness exotic marine life while snorkelling in the crystalline waters. Your next stop is Manta Point for more snorkelling where you can get up close and personal with the gentle manta rays. Then its back to Labuan Bajo for a good rest at the hotel.
Day 8 – Labuan Bajo / Denpasar
Have a filling breakfast then head out to the city to explore Batu Cermin Cave and a local market. At Batu Cermin Cave you’ll have a once in a lifetime chance to see the smooth mirror-like effect on the inner walls due to the light being reflected off it. Then tour around the local market to get some souvenirs before head back to the airport for your return flight.
