Vietnam has a collection of the world’s largest and most beautiful caves. In fact, the very home to this natural gift has been under UNESCO’s World Heritage Site protection. It is none other than the Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park. Here, you will find yourself some of the largest, longest and most beautiful caves you will ever get to see. Make your way into the caves, enjoy a trek up the pristine jungle of the national park and explore the hidden beauty of the park as you dine under the beautiful evening stars.
Day 1 - Jungle Hiking and Camp
Starting your journey from the HQ, you will be briefed on what to expect from the trip and how to best prepare for it. Here, you will also meet and get to know your teammates better. Then, it is off for a ride to Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park and the trailhead. It will take about 45 minutes to arrive so in the meantime, enjoy the scenic view of the park as you make your way to your exiting day hike.
Once you arrive at the starting point, you will begin your trek properly. While on the trail, you will get to find out more about the rich fauna and flora of the jungle and perhaps even try out some of the natural delicacies along the way. Then, you will also learn about the culture of Ruc Ca Roong people who live their lives being dependent on jungle resources. After walking for some time, take the time to sit down, relax and partake in that delicious lunch prepared for you. This is also the prime time for you to be asking about any questions you might have in mind to your guide. They will be more than happy to enlighten you on the matter.
Then, the trek continues until you reach Pygmy Cave. the fourth largest cave in the world. Once you arrive, you will be setting up camp at either the mouth of the cave or the interior of the cave itself. Take your time to then enter, explore and marvel at the beautiful limestone formations of the cave. Meanwhile, your porter team outside will be preparing some nice Vietnamese dinner with rice, veggies, soup and meat. There will also be rice wine served for the occasion. So cheers and be merry throughout the night!
Day 2 - The Hang Over Cave & Jungle Trekking
Wake up to the smell of fragrant hot coffee as you open your eyes to the early morning. Feast on the mouthwatering breakfast and build up your energy for the day as you will continue your adventure onto the Hang Over Cave. It will begin with a long narrow cave at the entrance. As you make your way in, the ceiling grows higher and the view grows more majestic. After walking for some time, you will reach a grotto filled with wondrous stalagmites, stalactites, speleothems and cave pools. Here, you will set up the site for lunch and recharge yourself for more to come.
Then, the journey continues as you make your way toward the cave exit. On your way back, you will again make several stops for break and light snacks. Still, do not forget to enjoy the scenery of the dense forest as you make your way to the road. There, you will be greeted with some cold beverages and a bus ride back to the HQ.
