As one of Vietnam’s largest and busiest big city, Ho Chi Minh is filled with intriguing cultural and historical roots and is the capital of Southern Vietnam. Previously named Saigon, the city was actually named Ho Chi Minh after the founder of the Indochina Communist Party who was also Vietnam’s president from 1945 - 1969. It is also home to many historical relics and landscape such as the War Remnants Museum, the Reunification Palace and Notre Dame Cathedral which you will get to see and visit throughout your journey there.
On this tour, you will visit some of the most interesting places that Ho Chi Minh City has to offer. The War Remnants Museum will allow you to learn more about the wartime history and tragedy of the past and reminds us all that war is a lost cause. You will also visit the Reunification Palace, a beautiful palace which was formerly the residence of the President of the People’s Republic of Vietnam in the 1960s - 1970s. Then, you will make your way to the Notre Dame Cathedral which was built in 1880 and the Old Post Office which was built between 1886 – 1891. Learn more about the importance of French architecture and the spread of Christiniaty in Vietnam during the French colonization as you go around looking for the ideal spot for your photo-taking chances.
Next, you will head over to Thien Hau Pagoda in Cho Lon. This Chinese style temple is located on Nguyen Trai Street in Cho Lon (China town) - District 5 and is dedicated to Thien Hau, the Lady of the Sea. Interestingly, the religious sect that worships Thien Hau is actually a branch of Buddhism closely related to Taoism and even today, many of the local folks are still a stout believer of the practice. Your last stop will be at the lacquerware factory where you will get to see for yourself the production process of traditional Vietnamese wares up close and personal. Finally, once you are satisfied, you will conclude your tour and head back to your hotel.
