Day 1 – Denpasar / Ende / Moni
Upon your arrival in Ende, meet up with your guide who will drive you to Moni. Along the way you will stop by Detusoko to see the beautiful terraced rice paddies set against verdant sloping hills. The area is surrounded by gorgeous lush valleys and forests that are sure to refresh the sight and mind of the beholder. Arrive in Moni and check in to your accommodation.
Day 2 – Moni / Kelimutu Lakes / Bajawa
Head out to Kelimutu volcano in the early morning so you can witness the sight of the sun rising through the sky against the tricoloured crater lakes of Kelimutu. The three lakes can range in colour from blue to green and red. The three-coloured lake is a must visit destination in Flores, due to its unique chameleon-like properties that geologist have been studying for years. Witness the natural wonders that shifts colour, giving visitors a surprise element on the colours that will be greeting you when you summit the volcano.
Continue on to the Saga and Wologai villages to see how locals carry out their daily lives. The tribal inhibitants here are known to be very friendly towards visitors, where you can observe the beauty of their cultural and traditional way of living. Satisfy your hunger with lunch at a local restaurant in Ende. Stop by en route to Bajawa so you can visit Penggajawa Blue Stone Beach. The beach is lined with blue and grey stones that local women will examine for their collection to be sold as garden decorations.
Day 3 – Bajawa / Ruteng
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel then visit the traditional village of the Bajawa tribes. Bena is one of those villages where the locals still preserve their beliefs of ancestral spirits and maintain their traditional way of life. On the way to Ruteng, enjoy your lunch then make some stops at Inerie volcano for some pictures, Aimere village to observe “arak” distillation and fresh palm juice tapping, and Ranamese Lake to view the peak of Mount Inerie. Upon your arrival at Ruteng, check in to your hotel. Visit “Liang Bua” in the afternoon.
Day 4 – Ruteng / Denge / Wae Rebo
After breakfast you will be driven to the south coast where Denge village lies. It is the starting point of the trek to Wae Rebo, the oldest traditional village of the Manggarainesse. The amount of plantation and growth you will see along the way is unmatchable as the rainforest along the trek is one of the wealthiest areas in Indonesia in terms of biology. At the village of Wae Rebo, you will see conical houses. One of these conical houses is a “drum house” with unique architecture where meetings, rituals and Sunday morning prayers are held.
Day 5 – Wae Rebo / Denge / Labuan Bajo
After your breakfast, trek down to Denge village and then continue on to Labuan Bajo, the western tip of Flores. Stop by Narang where you can take in the panoramic view of rice fields surrounded by lush hills. Visit Waeramu beach where you can refresh yourself with a dip and enjoy your lunchbox. Continue onwards to Labuan Bajo where you will then check in to your accommodation.
Day 6 – Labuan Bajo / Rinca Island / Kalong Island / Labuan Bajo
Have your breakfast then go to the Labuan Bajo pier to catch a boat to Rinca Island where you will trek through the dry forests in search of the Komodo dragon and various other wildlife. A local ranger will lead the way along the trail. In the late afternoon, embark on a boat ride to Kalong Island to witness hundreds of flying foxes leaving the mangrove forests. Bask in the fading light of the sun as it sets beautifully beyond the horizon. Sail back to Labuan Bajo, have dinner then settle in for the night at your hotel.
Day 7 – Labuan Bajo / Denpasar
Spend your morning exploring the city by visiting Batu Cermin (Mirror Stone) Cave and a local market. Batu Cermin Cave has smooth reflective inner walls that reflect like just like mirrors do while the local market is where locals gather to sell their fresh produce or unique handicraft. Purchase a souvenir or two before heading to the airport for your return flight to Denpasar.
