Tour Description:

Langkawi Island is every nature lover’s paradise with its diversified ecosystem of flora and fauna among the lush rainforest surrounding the island. Your exciting adventure will kick start at Mount Raya, Langkawi’s highest peak, before proceeding to Lubuk Semilang which is conveniently located at the base of Mount Raya and surrounded by lush rainforest and its extensive diversification of flora and fauna. When exploring Lubuk Semilang, you will be able to come across various types of rainforest birds.

Get ready for an interesting bird watching experience, regardless if you are a professional birdwatcher or a first-time bird enthusiast. Langkawi is home to a whopping 238 species of birds, one-third of which are migrants who settled in the warmer climates of Langkawi between September through April. Follow the lead of the experienced nature guide who will be able to explain to you about any species of bird you spot along the walk. We will start our adventure early in the day as there is more social interaction among the bird population during cooler times of the day. There are four species of woodpeckers that live on Langkawi, one of which is the Great Slaty Woodpecker, the largest species known in the world. Be sure to look out for the five species of sunbirds residing on the island, including the bright crimson coloured breasted species known as the Crimson Sunbird. There are also eight species of kingfishers on Langkawi, the most famous being the Brown Winged Kingfisher which has striking dark brown wings that contrast against its golden orange body and red beak. Among the three species of hornbills you may spot, this includes the majestic Great Hornbill which can be up to 1.3 metres long from tail to beak! Other rare bird species such as the Jerdon’s Baza, European Oriole and Plain Backed Sparrow also live on the island. As you explore further into the trails, you may be able to spot bulbuls, herons, sandpipers, pigeons, woodpeckers, drongos and even raptors!
