At Kanchanaburi city, you will visit the Bridge on the River Kwai, which was built during World War 2. The construction of the bridge was carried out in the most unpleasant circumstances, in which it was constructed using POWs and Asian slave labourers that resulted in the deaths of the nearly 7000 POWs. The current bridge that still stands is the reconstructed version of the original bridge that was bombed by the Allied Forces in 1944.

Step into the JEATH Museum that commemorates the atrocities that happened during the construction of the Bridge on the River Kwai during World War II and you may even gain some insight on the the constant work the prisoners had to endure under the heated environment. Your final stop will be to the Donrak War Cemetery, where the prisoners of war were buried and it is maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
