The tour will start with a relaxing cyclo (pedicab) ride to Thien Hau Temple. This temple, built to worship Lady Thien Hau, is one of the oldest temples in Chinatown. Thien Hau is the Vietnamese transcription of the Chinese name Tianhou (Empress of Heaven), an epithet of the Chinese sea goddess Mazu, the deified form of Lin Moniang, a medieval Fujianese girl who was told to have saved her family from a typhoon using her spiritual power. After visiting the temple, you will stroll around Chinatown and visit some of the local shops found around the area. Aside from being a shopping destination, Chinatown also reflects the Chinese culture which is highly dominant in Ho Chi Minh city. This area is a popular site for tourists and similarly attracts many Taiwanese and Chinese visitors to come and have a quick visit. It is also an interesting place to see classical Chinese architecture and to try out different types of Chinese cuisine while you are there. With Chinatown done, you will visit Cha Tam Church next. From the church, you will continue with some shopping session at Binh Tay Market, the largest market in Ho Chi Minh City or head over to the lacquerware factory where you can find special products made locally in Vietnam.
