When it comes to natural wonders, Co To Island definitely takes the cake. Local residents have been relying on the ocean and forest for their livelihood and you will see why. The forest of Co To is pristine and native, reminiscent of the panorama of Vietnam before tourism starts growing rapidly back in the early 2000s. As you walk around the beautiful island, you will also chance upon anchored local boats which you can explore further during the low tide period. If you are lucky, you may also get to chat with locals and ask them further on their lives in Co To. If this natural and cultural experience sounds perfect for you, Co To is definitely a must go.
Day 1 - Ha Long Bay / Van Don / Co To Island (Lunch & Dinner)
You will be picked up from your hotel and head down to the town of Cai Rong where you will board a ferry to Co To Island. Onboard, you will be able to enjoy and take in the beautiful scenery of Bai Tu Long Bay during the 1.5 hours’ journey and get various chances for a photo shoot around the bay water area. Once you arrive at Co To Island, you will head straight to the guesthouse and continue your afternoon with some easy cycling around the Island as you take pictures and get a glimpse of the remote, untouched scenery of Co To. The land here is a perfect example of the Vietnamese landscape before wide-scale tourism made its impact and you will be awed by the sheer natural wonder of the surrounding island area. There are numerous hills and peaks on Co To Island, ranging from 100 to 170 m, and a lighthouse for you to visit as well. Moving closer to the coastline, the area is teeming with cliffs and high rocks around the beach as well. You will also find fishing boats anchored around the shore which you can try jumping into during the low tide period. In addition to the lovely shores, the Island also attracts visitors with its diverse marine ecosystem which is home to as many as 170 different ocean species. The green and red corals lying deep in the blue water surrounding Co To are also an attracting factor for coral lovers and occasionally, you may find fishes coming out of the coral in search for food. Interestingly, the coral is also home to the island's thriving pearl industry. Once you finish your rounds around the beach, head back to your room for your overnight stay on Co To Island.
Day 2 - Co To Island / Hong Van Beach (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
After a delicious breakfast at the hotel, a bus will take you to Mong Rong rock area to visit Bac Van Military Port. Here, you can see Co To Island from afar and get a full view of its surrounding marine and terrestrial environment. You will also visit Van Chai Beach, dubbed North Vietnam’s most beautiful beach, where you will find out more about the ecosystem and natural lives around the beach. Head back to town for lunch and continue your day with a 2 km walk to the local lighthouse, visiting Hong Van Beach, swim, or learn to scuba dive (fee not included in this tour). Once you are satisfied, head back to your room and wait for dinner. Dinner will be served at a local restaurant before you finally retire back into your chamber.
Day 3 - Co To Island / Ha Long Bay (Breakfast & Lunch)
You will have your early morning breakfast at the hotel before enjoying your own free time for relaxing and/or shopping for souvenirs around Co To Island. After lunch, a car will take you to the ferry and you will head back to Cai Rong and your hotel to conclude your tour.
