Cycle from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai and explore the beautiful landscapes surrounding the two cities by bike!
Day 1 - Chiang Mai / Mae Ngat Reservoir
At the beginning of the trip, we will pick you up from your hotel in the morning. Then, we will transfer to Bua Thong Waterfalls to start off there. The waterfall is very interesting and is famous for its sticky surface. Thus, it is also named as Bua Thong Sticky Waterfalls. You will be able to enjoy a special experience of walking on waterfalls without the fear of falling. A kind of mineral that exists on the surface of the walk makes the water looks creamy and the rock feels incredibly grippy. A walk up the waterfalls will get your legs warmed up and ready for the ride. We will start the ride cycling past teak tree farm and along country roads, along with the canal and through paddy fields. We will reach the Mae Ngat Reservoir and stop to enjoy a beautiful lakeside view from the dam. We continue our cycling and enjoy the views at Chiang Mai countryside until we reach our hotel for the night. The hotel has a great and relaxing pool that can help you relax after a long day riding.
Day 2 - Chiang Dao Caves / Chiang Dao Tribal Trails
On the next day after having breakfast, we will take a transfer from our resort to the Chiang Dao Caves. The Chiang Dao Caves is a big cave complex which consists over 100 caves but only 5 are open to the public. The amazing stalactites and stalagmites in the caverns prove to be a stunning view. We will do some cave exploration here to visit the shrines in the caves and look at the Buddha images. After visiting the cave, we will start our ride through rice fields set among soaring limestone cliffs. We may meet some local tribe peoples such as Akha, Lisu, Palaung on our way. The colourful Palaungs are recent migrants and you will get to see their women adorned with heavy brass waistbands working the fields.
Day 3 - Fang / Mae Kok River / Mae Salak
After a hearty breakfast, we transfer to Fang to start our ride. From here, we will cycle through many small local Thai villages that live in the more traditional way. You can enjoy the calm and peaceful countryside experience while cycling. The picturesque views you will see along the way is definitely a treat for your eyes. The ride to Mae Salak along the Mae Kok River is definitely one of the most scenic views in this trip. The lush green hills in the distant are Thailand’s natural border with neighbouring Myanmar. We will end our cycling journey for the day along the banks of Mae Kok River where our resort is. You can dip into the pool at the resort to relax and prepare for the next day.
Day 4 - Mae Salak / Mae Kok River / Chiang Rai / Wat Phra Kaew / Wat Rong Khun
Upon finishing our breakfast, we take a quick transfer to a Lahu village where will hitch a ride on a long-tail boat with our bikes on the Mae Kok River. Once we reach the destination, we will start our cycling along some natural hot springs and then head to Chiang Rai. Our next destination will be Wat Phra Kaew. It is one of the most important temples of Chiang Rai and it is a royal temple. It also once housed the Emerald Buddha before it is transferred to the Grand Palace in Bangkok. After a tour at Wat Phra Kaew, we ride to another famous temple in Chiang Rai which is the Wat Rong Khun. It is also known well as the White Temple because of its white colour appearance. The temple is a contemporary, unconventional, privately-owned art exhibit in the style of a Buddhist temple. It is owned by a Thai visual artist that who designed, constructed and opened the temple to visitors in 1997. Then, we will end our tour here and transfer you back to Chiang Rai city.
