Wander into great mountain trails at Chiang Mai and discover the beauties of Thailand’s highest mountain, Doi Inthanon!
Thailand is well known with its colourful nightlife, amazing street foods and friendly locals but not often its mountains. However, the Doi Inthanon is definitely a spectacular mountain to visit. It is the highest mountain in Thailand with the height of 2,565 metres and is known as “The Roof of Thailand”. It is also one of the most famous national parks in Thailand and known for its waterfalls, viewpoints, jungle trails and cool weather. There are also two chedis built on top of the mountain and it looks absolutely surreal. This tour will bring you on an epic cycling adventure to explore magnificent views at the Doi Inthanon National Park as you climb upwards of the mountain.
The trip begins with picking you up from your hotel in Chiang Mai early in the morning. We will then transfer to our starting point away from the Chiang Mai city. We prepare ourselves for the ride at the starting points and starts with a breeze. Along the way, we will stop by a local market to buy some snacks. Doi Inthanon is a large national park that spreads from the lowland of 800 metres upwards to the peak at 2,565 metres which covers many different climatic and ecological zones as we cycle up the mountain. We will ride to a scenic viewpoint and take a rest before we continue to ride. Then, we have the option to tackle the steepest part of the mountain and climb into the clouds to ride past the beautiful chedis and gardens dedicated to King and Queen of Thailand. As we ride our way up to the summit of Doi Inthanon, you will be able to look at many picturesque sceneries that will be memorable. Once we reach the summit of Doi Inthanon, you can take a photo of victory there and enjoy the view from the top.
We will ride approximately 30 kilometres on the way up and for super strong cyclists we can add on 10 kilometres and 900 metres. We will begin our downhill from the second checkpoint and coast for 18 kilometres. There will be plenty of opportunities to take photos and enjoy the scenery. A support vehicle will be following us on the tour and if you are tired you can get a lift to the top. You can choose if you prefer a mountain or road bike for this tour, depending on your comfort level.
