Enjoy the untamed beauty of one of the must-go locations in Vietnam: Cham Island
The World Biosphere Reserve Recognized by UNESCO - Cham Island is about 15 kilometres from Cua Dai beach. It comprises a group of 7 coastal islands: Hon Lao (the main island where most of the activities occur), Hon Dai, Hon La, Hon Kho, Hon Tai, Hon Mo and Hon Nom. Cham Island ecosystem is diverse as there is a variety of animal species and different kinds of plants there. Coral reefs and medicinal plants are two of the islands ecosystem “representatives”. The island’s climate is cool all year round.
From Cua Dai beach, take a ride on a speedboat for about 25 minutes to Cham islands. The first stop is the oldest fishing village in Quang Nam. It was formed decades ago to meet the locals need ỏ trading seafood and as time passed by, it became a fishing village and a famous seafood market. It is well-known for its daily fresh products. Next, stop at Hai Tang Pagoda. It was built in 1758. There is a long historic tale behind the construction of the pagoda, involving how it was built, why people named it “Hai Tang” or the reason for the pagoda’s very location. Many people believe the pagoda owns a good feng shui for a variety of reasoning. Moreover, the pagoda is the spiritual home for the locals on the island. Another special feature is that the island has kept its original architecture for over 2 centuries.
After paying a visit to the religious building of the island, relax at Chong beach. The beach owns an untamed beauty: crystal clear water, lines of coconut trees standing tall on the beach and the yellow, smooth sand. The dark rocks on the beach hold a deep meaning behind it: it symbolizes the connection of a husband and wife or the balance of yin and yang; of course, there is a folklore behind it as well. Surround yourself with nature and the saltiness of the sea, have a swim or perhaps fishing if you like. Lunch served with local fresh seafood at Cua Dai beach will wrap up your half-day trip to one of Vietnam’s must-go islands.
