Your journey begins with a ride to the Chachoengsao Province, which dates all the way back to the Ayutthaya period in mid-1500. Back in the days, people would initially settle along the Bang Pakong river or other canals. The western part of the province is the low river plain of the Bang Pakong River while the east is more to the hilly terrain. After a leisure stroll around the quaint village, your next visit will be to a local Thai temple. Visit the glorious Wat Sothorn Wora Viharn that exudes true beauty from its intricate architecture that reflects the Sun’s rays to the Buddha statues that enhances the grandeur of the temple. While Thailand is known to be home to over 40 000 Budhhist temples, Wat Sothorn Wora Viharn stands out with its classic white marble with gold trimmings design.The majestic riverside temple is located not too far away from the Bang Pakong River, where many devotees would come here daily for their prayers.Pay your respects where you are at the temple and then you will head your way to the Bang Pakong river where you will take pleasure in the delectable treats and snacks, which are sold along the river.
Take a step back in time when you stumble upon the Ban Mai Market, which has been around for at least a century. In this local market, you will splurge to your heart’s desire and you may even discover some exotic goods, from cheap plastic toys to kitchen utensils. The 100-year old riverside market has a spectacular view of the river, where the calming breeze and a laid-back atmosphere will be greeting you. However, do note that this lovely old market is only opened during the weekends. By now you should be feeling hungry from all the walking and exploring. Stimulate your taste buds by indulging in the local Thai flavours when you have your lunch at a local restaurant in Bang Pakong.
Once you have recharged your energy, continue exploring the quaint province for more sightseeing opportunities. Get involved in some leisure activities as well, which includes riding the long tail boat or simply just feed the fishes in the river! Traverse to the majestic Wat Samarn temple where you will encounter a grand reclining statue of Ganesha that towers at about 16 meters high. The Wat Samarn Temple is one of the very few temples in Thailand that houses statues of Hindhu deity instead of the usual Buddha statue. The unique temple is very colourful and flashy in nature, making it a very photogenic spot for you to capture. Explore the temple and discover a variety of Ganesha statues that are in different positions. You will be boarding the train in the late afternoon, to depart to the Bangkok city as the tour ends.
